Apparently the Mayor in Chicago and the police think that they are in Seattle or something. Chicago police made coffee and popcorn in US Rep. Bobby Rush’s office while shopping plaza was being looted; Mayor Lori Lightfoot apologizes Rush’s South Side campaign office was looted about two weeks ago during widespread civil unrest in the wake of George Floyd’s killing by Minneapolis police. Looters also went into a nearby plaza of businesses, he said. Rush said he got a call that his campaign offices at 54th Street and South Wentworth Avenue had been burglarized, and there was video of eight or more police officers “lounging in my office” as looters were in the shopping center nearby. Rush looked at the video and saw eight or more cops, including three supervisors, with their feet up on desks, he said. “One was asleep on my couch in my campaign office,” Rush said. “They even had the unmitigated gall to go and make coffee for themselves and make coffee for themselves and to pop popcorn, my popcorn, in my microwave while looters were tearing apart businesses within their sight and within their reach,” Rush said. https://www.chicagotribune.com/poli...0200611-je3afw3lxbhknicv37ijnncgkq-story.html
Prediction: Washington State uses the open carry problem in the Autonomous Area to legislate away open carry for the whole state.
So NYC is going to cut 1 Billion from the police budget? I'm not so sure that's a good idea. I mean lets face it, with all the stuff that goes on there. New Years Eve, Macy's Parade, the marathon,... I mean dozens of things. Granted we have Covid right now so those things are on hold, but since 9-11... hats off to the street cops in NYC. They do a great job of keeping that city safe af. And if you've ever talked to any of them... they are (imo) some of the coolest cops in the U.S. The dicks are in the small towns, for the most part. NYC is the greatest city in the world. They need to increase their budget, keep NYC safe for all people. Americans and everyone else. Que Frank Sinatra NYNY.
Yeah, well....for things liek the Macy's parade and the NYE party in Times Square, the promoters pay for the police presence. Can't really plan for the riots and shit like that, though.
As I said a couple weeks back, we will be returning to all sorts of "pay for protection" schemes in some of these cities. Schemes that took decades to remove. By making the right monthly payments, you will be able to keep your place from being torched. If you miss a payment, well you will have visitors. Yup, some of this stuff is and will be a trip back in time, even though it is all done in name of being progressive. And lots of people in NYC are old enough to remember what NYC murders and crime rate looked like before they/Guiliani got serious about it. But those who are not old enough to remember, not to worry, you are about to see.
It is at least possible that a majority are reasonably honest and professional most of the time. In reality infiltration of police forces by white supremacists appears to be a problem, and it may be a much worse problem than the public realizes. . See: https://abcnews.go.com/US/white-sup...-enforcement-goals-internal/story?id=76309051 https://www.pbs.org/newshour/nation/fbi-white-supremacists-in-law-enforcement Also google: "white supremacist infiltration of police" for many more links. In my view we need far fewer, much higher paid, much better educated and trained police held to a very high standard.
