include the early conveined presidental economic panel which removed Glass Stegal regulations and restrictions as well as all the other releasing from constraints that occurred early in the first term of Bush-II, which directly contributed to the private sector acting in the worse possible manner

however, the focus of this thread remains

finding a way to put millions of American citizens back to work, whether through a massive public works program as was done (out of desperation and great resistance against the programs) in the 1930's....

caring for our fellow citizens remains the focus,

even the Congress couldn't roast, toast and vilify Geitner yesterday in those all day hearings sufficient to satisfy their disgust....

similarly we won't agree on much regarding economic policies that have already occurred, in our heated discussions on this thread....

  3. post a link to which one,

however, I was most concerned and waiting with baited breathe, as the expression goes,

for your proposed solution, as all your comments have been quite refreshing but negative.

BLSI, Limitdown, and a few others expose themselves to critical thought and commentary,

it would be nice to be able to poke fun and whittle away and reduce to nothing someone else's thoughts on these threads...

a date that will live in infamy....

the sunday news programs lead off with a story of over 15,400,000 Americans unemployed

there continues to be a need to resolve and correct this reality of having been victims of over 8 years of conservative idiology and policies...

there continues to be a need to put Americans back to work, with living wages sufficient to afford, perhaps not their current lifestyle, but their expenses

there continues to be a need for active discussions regarding this matter, whether done and resolved by the private sector or public sector,

a job = self respect = community stability = healthy economy = stable conditions...

  6. Persistent stupidity like the above in red means the unemployment rate is much too low.

More lessons evidently need to be learned.

This whole recession started about Jan 2006. The date of Democratic take over of Congress.
At this point in time it is very difficult to decide if an investment in business is smart.
Many investors, hedge funds, venture and angel investors can not forecast costs, risks and returns in a 3 or 5 year investment in a business.
Taxes, healthcare costs, Estates taxes, Expiring tax cuts, deficits are all unknowns. All are in risk of going against the interests of business investors. Therefore money is frozen. It is buying bonds, oil, gold, existing stocks.
Not one job will be created in the private sector until these issues are settled.

Great post. The biggest job killer of them all will be healthcare. A family member of mine employs over 50 people between two restaurants he owns. He is convinced that he and many small business owners will be finished if they are required to pay for workers health care. He is scared shitless of Obama-care.
