QuietTrader- Which time frame do you mainly trade? I have seen you mention 1, 5, 10, 15 minute time frames. Or do you trade the price action from the X-Trader dome and use charts as confirmation of the momentum? Have you ever traded any of the other minis such as the YM or NQ? Also, do you mainly use limit or market order to enter? Thanks. PaperTrader
Still in the trade. Almost bailed @ 1312.25, but the following chart, with that "little blue dot" (surrounded by red circle) kept me in the trade. It signals a (potential) change in trend. Added another 5 @ 1313.50 after the bounce from the low, and took the profits on those 4 @ 1315.00. Still long 10. Stop is presently @ 1313.00.
Here's the scoop. While the ES price action at this point is telling me to stay in the trade, ER has had 3 down candles in a row (5 min). If it can't put in an up candle by 11:55, I'm exiting.
I'm as impressed that you're able to use TT on that archaic of a computer as I am by your obvious trading ability.....
Sold 10 @ 1314.50. Total profit on trade (incl. extra 5): $1,000 even. Here's that ER chart to which I referred:
Pabst, My laptop is also (supposedly) a p3 800. In fact I think it's only 666 (645/128 according to /cp/system--I bought it off Ebay as an 800, and remember having some discussion with the seller in which he tried to prove it was an 800 -- "don't look at that look at this" kind of thing (something to do with looking what it says at bootup??). At any rate, it runs quite sluggishly. Software takes a while to boot up, etc. On my desktop (802 mhz, 384mb of RAM according to /cp/system...) I am presently running: Ensign charts with IQfeed software, Outlook Express, Avant Browser with 20 (tabbed) windows open (as you've seen before, I tend to jump around quite a bit), Adobe Acrobat reader, a foreign-language word processor, X-trader with 12 windows (2 T/S, 7 MD Trader, TTFill, Audit Trail, main window), Directory Opus with dual vertical windows, Excel, Dimension4 to keep my clock synchronized, NOD32 antivirus, Ensign Chat (standalone), Ventrillo (voice app). Accuse me of showing off, but it has nothing to do with me! At any rate, it's usually with the "between the ears" software that I experience the greatest bottlenecks.
Here's a screen capture of my desktop. In order to capture, I booted up Irfan View as well. And I forgot, I also run Virtual Daemon Manager.
LOL. You're singlehandedly going to bust the chipmakers and put a generation of overpriced IT guys out on the street...
ER, the same reason that had me out of the previous trade, had me wanting to go long @ 1314.50 again. I avoided it because of the choppy market profile at the time, and the proximity to supper time. In hindsight, it would have been a safe entry. Take a look at what ER was doing while ES was chopping around over the last 20 minutes or so, and you'll see what I mean. (I typed this a while ago, and it's a little outdated, but the charts were saved at the appropriate times, so you can still get an idea of what I'm talking about.)
