That is totally ridiculous, to make a decision based on misstating someones name. That is like correcting someone on here or anywhere else for not spelling correctly and assume they don't know what they are saying.

She won for 1 reason and 1 reason only. Everyone was waiting for her to fall on her face and SHE DIDN'T!
Plus she was informative and direct.
She clearly stated that will not answer the questions the way Biden or IFill was seeking.
That is the problem with lefts, you either say or do it their way or you are wrong.

  3. I don't think Pa(b)st is a social conservative as much as he likes low taxes (obviously, I like low taxes too, and itemize everything, including contact lense solution and medicated shampoo).

Somehow, I just cannot see him and a Christian conservative having that much in common.

I don't agree with him on much, but he seems like an intense guy, like me, and I kind of like that in people (there are a lot of intense people here at ET). I just find the sex talk a little offputting (not that there's anything wrong with that).

  4. You're quite perceptive. Although I tend to support conservative social values-I'm opposed to gay marriage and abortion-I'm also someone who's lived 4 decades in a VERY diverse Chicago neighborhood. As a straight, white, Christian, Republican male I'm a hugely distinct minority on Chicago's far Northside. To say I'm "open" to opposing lifestyles is an understatement and on some social issues I'm to the left of mainstream. I try to be a consistent libertarian. My opposition to abortion is based not on my lapsing Catholicism but rather on respect for innocent life and my opposition to gay marriage isn't any more an anti-homo thing than is Obama's opposition. In fact weirdly I've heard over the years from several Chicago gays that Obama on a personal level seems to be more than a bit gay-unfriendly.
