[call for action] IB is forcing 2FA

    You mean, on your phone? Or via the white 2FA plastic card? I'm asking because I've noticed some strange GUI problems with the gateway where it fails to repaint or something along those lines and it only appears as if there's a problem. I trust you've confirmed that the networking aspect isn't functioning without the "second authentication"? Have you tried the full client instead of the gateway or do you need the fix protocol? Anyway...

    From a metaphysical standpoint, fully automated trading isn't possible; at least not until computers become sentient beings with genuine intelligence. I'm not hopeful this will be realized anytime soon. That said...

    This is mostly probabilistic. It could be your software doesn't stress the IB software enough. It could be that @d08 is working with different contracts or using data feeds you aren't. You do acknowledge that luck's involved so I'm only highlighting it, not faulting you.

    What stings IMHO is that it doesn't seem fair that IB is "playing favorites" with some sections of their code and letting others, which they've made commitments to, whither. If they've documented and are offering the feature they should make sure it's working as well as every other. This is overly idealistic thinking though.

    So, life isn't always precisely fair. Or maybe "fair" is just a very difficult term to define. Coming to terms with all this can be a challenge. I certainly empathize.

  2. Are you certain that you have enabled the "allow automatic restart" tick box in the Gateway settings?
    In my case I see IBGW restarting itself once every weekday, at a time set by me, without any action from me required. Only on Sundays I have to re-logon with username, password, and the challenge-response thing (I have a plastic card with response codes).

    Yes, it would help to have "allow automatic restart" selected instead of "automatic logoff"...:banghead:
