A company is a price taker for the skills it needs. A job seeker is a price taker for the skills they provide. Btw - all companies (except very small ones, like less than 15 employees) have to provide at least Obamacare. Or they have to pay a penalty which covers the cost of Obamacare for their employees.
But a lot of them are and push the per capita up. The average net worth of a .1%er is 150MM. The min to get into the club is 35MM.
It's actually cheaper to pay for Obamacare than to pay the fine. I had this conversation with my insurance broker last week. (as a hypothetical, we give decent insurance to our employees).
UPS drivers make over 100,000 a year Amazon drivers make 18-20 an hour Some companies pay drivers 7.25 an hour All the same skill.
The market isn't perfect as there's friction. We could mandate each job has a required wage... i think that's been tried before, but i can't remember which country tried it and how it went. All those drivers should go to UPS.
