Take suffering out of it. Of course no responsible pet owner or vet is going to keep an animal alive if its suffering. But what if your dog of 9 years needs a $2000 operation and you know he'll live another 5 years? What then? $35?! Tough call. Guess it depends on how much money one has and what one values as important to themselves. Anybody read this story? Its been in the news for a month or so. Why didn't they just put him down? http://www.animalloversnews.com/dogs/ears-cut-off/ Wasn't it Gandhi that said “The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”? So there ya go....Makin' America Great Again.
First off, only God knows how long we have on Earth, if one don't believe in higher spirit, then they have to look within their hearts'. Personally, I have spent much more than couple grand on pet surgeries, they get cancer too, and had been to vet months earlier with cat as he had been losing weight and spent grand on year of extra foods to put weight back on, but when he stopped eating and then stopped drinking, and had small cries, you are either inhuman to not put end his misery or you are you are inhuman. I have no problem paying if whatever surgeries or foods make my friend better, but if creature is in pain and not going to get better, you push your emotions away and do right thing. I read the story, great dog to have after all that. Question, do you eat meat or veggie person? Buddy of mine raises cattle, there was a one year calf I liked, I would always bring bag of apples when I went for twice a month visit, I am learning how to birth when full term cows have trouble, 90% of them have little trouble but first termers might or if much larger Bull was used. Anyway, one day forgot to bring apples, darn calf who gotten larger was chasing me for those apples, biting me, all I could think of just wait one day you be on someone's plate.
