California bans sales of gas powered vehicles by 2035

  1. California was so strong. Now everyone can work from everywhere. California's numbers will drop and the smugness will fall as many move out.

I'm not sure I knew anyone in the 7 years I lived in California who hated it there but had to live there for the job, which you seem to believe is the case. Certainly there are things like high housing prices that suck, but in the places I lived in the SF Bay area prices were high because everyone wanted to live there and there were literally no more empty lots. If you're a person who likes mild climates, outdoor sports, the ability to surf one day and ski the next, lots of culture, and good food then places like the Bay Area are an ideal place to live and the people who self selected to live there mostly feel that way. In fact having lived in every region of the country while I was in the service, HI and AK are the only other places I've lived where people predominantly lived there because they loved living there as much as the Bay Area.

At the end of the day, the people who live in CA predominantly both want to live there and overwhelmingly support the liberal politicians they elect with supermajorities. If anyone is "smug" it's someone who claims to be a strong states rights supporter and doesn't live in CA and never has, telling the people of CA that they can't pass the laws they overwhelmingly support. And the supposedly conservative capitalists who decide that the state that's created far more per capita over the past 30 years than the supposedly "good" red states is "horrible". And then there's the people who hope for another state's failure, that kind of goes beyond "smug" to just asshole.

    They

The above generalizations are like propaganda for 5 year olds. Nobody with any intelligence is going to accept your statements.

California IS strong (Sig already pointed that out)

California tech workers are NOT moving to Nebraska they are moving a few hours from the Bay Area (ask any CA realtor)

California is not one smug entity, it is 40 million individuals. Most people are not humble by nature and are proud of where they live, even if its Alabama. (tilting at windmills)

No one will debate that there are entities who leave the State for economic reasons but there are far more who come for the same reason.

BTW, economic retirement (Cashing out and moving to Texas/Florida) is not exactly the same as economic opportunity.

Anyway I am biased, I am from a So Cal beach community.

Regarding the original topic, innovation will manifest with the 2035 banning of gas powered cars. The entire world is going this way, California is just speeding up the time table for the world's automotive industry by forcing a deadline.

Those leaving California aren't really doing it because they want to, but for economic reasons. The retirees wished they didn't have to pay state taxes, like Florida or Nevada. Others just can't afford living there on their salaries. But I have yet to know someone who left because they don't like the diversity of people, the coast and beaches, the mountains and the redwood trees, the deserts and the lakes... California doesn't depend on the federal government like the many anti government red states that just exist because of the big military bases that make up their economies, those same anti government republicans whose lives in military or enforcement have entirely been funded by government. As far as I know, the few republicans left in CA are around military bases, and the governor should consider closing those down. Lol, let California worry about the Chinese menace on the other side of the world or the hordes of brown people coming to steal or jobs. Yawn. One thing we should do though is bus back all the street people where they come from. California definitely cannot let meth addicted middle states vagrants live on its streets.

  7. So let me see. CA cannot produce enough electricity but wants us to drive electric cars. When the wind stops the windmills do not produce but when the wind starts PGE will cut off power because of fires! Can this CalUnicornia be any more fucked up? This rule will not apply to second-hand cars so I bet the used car market will be a great money maker.

  9. CalUnicornia is run by morons! the idiots close the schools, let rapists and murderers out of jail, and do not allow gun owners to purchase ammunition. Keep voting for them until it hurts...
