1. What's been proven? 2. Why now, all of a sudden? 3. Who's behind this smear campaign? (And it is a smear campaign whether the charges are true or false.) 4. Sexual harassment accusations are mostly sport in the USA.
This is great, as Cain did not need to spend a single cent and everyone is talking about him. Free publicity. GENIUS! Now we know why Cain is a businessman.
Cain has already "arrived" nurse RCG. And he still has a pulse. Critical condition maybe, ICU possibly, but not DOA.
Let's assume the DNC is behind this. Why wouldn't they wait for Cain to get the nomination, then hit him with this stuff?
You make some decent points. Unfortunately for Cain, he has turned what may have started as a smear campaign, however deserved, into what will be a referendum on his personal honesty and integrity. He will be shown to be lying, and then trying to cover with still more lies. His political career is over, and his business career is not worth much going forward. Many politicians have been caught in lies, but it is the voraciousness of Mr. Cains denials that will destroy him. The American voters may be morons, but they are sensitive morons. When a politician treats them as the morons they are, they want nothing more to do with that guy. Even Clinton when caught lying -- "I did not have sex with that woman." -- Did not persist in repeating the lie. He cleverly backtracked, and came up with his own definition of sex, and prevaricated over the meaning of "is". Furthermore there was about 50% of the population, possibly more, that thought consensual sex between adults was no one's business except Clinton, Monica, and Hilary. This Cain fiasco is a horse of a different color. Cain is dead meat. His integrity is in shambles.
So far as we know, the DNC, is staying clear of the whole matter. Someone at the Restaurant association who had access to the records and new about this apparently started the ball rolling.
