Hey Tom I am in the process of setting up a new system for me.My wife's computer was not adequate. So, the new one(mine)will have 2000 pro and dual monitors. No more hearing "YOU'RE ALWAYS ON THE COMPUTER"Thanks for all the replys.I knew I could count on this site for help.
What about the fact that most Cable internet providers use DHCP? Arn't most routers having to use a static IP? How do I get around this part?
the IP may be static or dynamic. Nice new routers will log in your cable network. the router is usually a DHCP itself, so it gives an IP to each PC locally. that's getting too technical I guess. In brief, cable routers firewall proxy (like the linksys) can handle your cable internet as long as the cable modem exports an Ethernet connection (10baseT usually, RJ45 connector). neo
Anyone using (or have used) a Linksys wireless router or any other wireless routers? Comments, problems, advice? p.s. If so which model(s). Thanks
