Typical bullshit cnn report. They end it with "it is not just painful for this woman who has had these photos released, but also for her district" who put so much hope in her. Yeh. she is the victim. Yet she was nailed under the congressional me-too rules that were intended to boot out or discipline congressional reps who victimized or exploited or abused power with their staffers. But no. CNN makes her the victim. Zero advocacy for the staffer or reference to the larger exploitive picture that she allegedly participated in- just like lots of menfolk do there. But I guess it is different. CNN is such a bullshit network. And they worked in the obligatory comments about her district was depending on her to fight against Trump so we should all feel sad for her and her district. They are the victims. How bout you just follow the fucking rules that say no sexual relations with people that work directly for you and who are complaining that they have to do sexual stuff to maintain their job.
Just as I said above. I completely agree with this article, and yes, it is the Washington Examiner. There is no need to pile on to the woman and her sexual stuff is her business, but the bit about having sex with a subordinate is another matter. If she were a man and a republican CNN would have crucified her rather than just letting her describe it as "inappropropiate" and portraying her as the victim of political smears. Just complete bullshit reporting. Don't kid yourself. They are trying to react to what is the real story for them: They just lost one of their rising dem stars and she bit the dust as a result of the metoo movement rules that they had intended for straight men. Also, the Ethics Committee should absolutely not- even though they will- drop their review of her situation just because she resigned. They have an obligation to review what the circumstances are/were in regard to congressional rep/staff on the Hill. This woman is leaving but denying the allegations on the Hill- although I guess acknowledging some campaign era violations. So she leaves and then CNN and the dems line up to portray her as the victim of an abusive husband and trump smear people. Ahhh, no. The investigation needs to be completed. The whole metoo movement was about not letting men slither out of office while denying charges and then settlements are paid in the background etc while they are allowed to deny. Nope. Finish the investigation. Congress has obligation to protect staff members and a duty to investigate all allegations regardless of whether the congressional rep has bailed out or not. Columnist says Katie Hill scandal exposes 'the left’s #MeToo hypocrisy' by Carlin Becker | October 28, 2019 09:26 AM announced her resignation from Congress amid allegations of affairs with two staffers, a New York Post columnist argued the incident exposes "the left's #MeToo hypocrisy." In a Sunday night column, Miranda Devine called the scandal surrounding Hill, who is accused of engaging in a three-way relationship with a female campaign staffer and her husband and later having an affair with her male legislative director, a "classic 'MeToo' situation." "But it [her resignation] shouldn’t have taken so long — more than a week during which she was aggressively defended by hypocritical defenders on the left," she wrote. "By claiming that Hill was the victim of a political smear, she and her supporters showed no concern for the vulnerable 22-year-old who was preyed upon by her boss and who now, two years later, is bereft, abandoned and a self-described 'mess.' "The same people who demonize males for far less gave Hill a free pass for her egregious abuse of power," Devine added. "This despicable sophistry undermines everything the 'MeToo' movement is meant to be about." The columnist went on to argue the reaction to Hill's alleged relationships with her aides would have been entirely different if she were a man. "To spell it out, if your boss is having sex with you, something is wrong. The power imbalance undermines the notion of consent, regardless of the gender or sexuality of the more powerful person," she said. "But whether it is or isn’t technically a violation, it’s still wrong by any standard of basic human decency. And you can bet that if Hill, 32, were a man and, God forbid, a Republican, the 'MeToo' crowd would show no mercy ... No man could get away with describing a sexual relationship with a subordinate whose paycheck he controls as merely 'inappropriate.'" Hill revealed her intentions to leave office less than a year into her first term, making her the first female lawmaker to quit Congress over a sex scandal. After naked photos surfaced, the California Democrat acknowledged and apologized for her "throuple" with the campaign staffer and her estranged husband, accusing her "abusive husband" of launching a "smear campaign" against her and lamenting the publication of explicit photos from their relationship. However, she has denied having an affair with her legislative director, which was the subject of a House Ethics Committee investigation. While the term "me too" was coined in 2006 by sexual assault survivor Tarana Burke, the #MeToo movement gained national attention in 2017 when actress Ashley Judd went public with allegations of sexual misconduct by ex-Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein, which led to an avalanche of other survivors coming forward with stories of sexual harassment and assault by powerful men in Hollywood, media, and politics. https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/...ill-scandal-exposes-the-lefts-metoo-hypocrisy
You are of course correct. Had this been a, dare I use the word, man,(sorry if that triggers someone), the #metoo mob would be looking for a rope and a tree.
Wasn't that Katie Hill broad a big Kavanaugh basher? Now what? She is crying that she did not get fair treatment or she has been smeared etc. Can you spell "karma" boys and girls. I am absolutely willing to give her all the due process she wants/needs. Not my fault she chose to split before we could get to that in her attempt to try to tamp down the bad attention she was getting and slither out of town. No, give her all the due process she is entitled to and, by all means keep, keep exposing the salacious stuff every step of the way. And if it is not enough- make some up- as they did with Kavanaugh. Except you dont need to make any up with her and her victims texts are on record.
She does not need any due process. She had sexual relations with two of her staff members. Not illegal but highly inappropriate and there was no denying it. Current policy is if that happens you are out. she should stop crying just because someone vindictively outed her. That is trying to put focus on the source and not the information already proven factual.
Since then, the Los Angeles Times has called Hill one of the most powerful freshmen in Congress, noting that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has taken Hill under her wing. In January, Hill was voted Vice Chair of Oversight—an important job at any time, and right now, a highly-scrutinized one. A seasoned Democratic aide says it’s rare for a freshman member to get elected. WOMP.....womp....womp She flipped that district too. Might be some buyer's remorse there, but I heard the CNN pundits saying- before she resigned- that that is not necessarily true because there is not much evidence that voters in her district care about anything she did. Ahhh, okay. She was tagged on a clear violation of house rules that arose out of the metoo movement.
