Buying/Selling the Open on NASDAQ/NYSE/AMEX

Discussion in 'Order Execution' started by CPTrader, Sep 19, 2003.

  1. What's the best way to ensure that one can buy/sell the opening price on the 3 US exchanges?

How do you account for liquidty issues?

Are there any critical differences in buying/selling the open order execution for the different exchanges.

    Any other ideas/tips?

    Thanks.

  2. But I thought you could only use "Market Opening Orders" on the NYSE/AMEX and not the NASDAQ/ECNS. Is that correct? Please correct me, inform me..

  3. What direct access platforms accept these?

    Are there size restrictions/limitations?

  4. Get your market order in as soon as possible?
I have an IRA with TD Waterhouse for long term stuff (I trade short term with IB). If I put a market order in before the open,
it gets submitted right at the open, and since it's a small order
I've almost always gotten the opening price or very near.
Sorry if this is too stupid, i'm not really a stock order expert guy.
