thanks, I don't care for no Limit Orders, or current/live prices, but other than that, it looks like a good site, for the USA marc
+1 Coinbase has been great for me thus far for bitcoins. Then if you want to trade them for some other "majors" go to BTC-E.com .... has treated me well thus far. Otherwise if you are going to hold them for a while, Cold storage is the safest bet.
the more I think about it, without Limit Orders, any site is worthless - for me anyway looking at BTC-e [it has Limit Orders for buying & selling] marc
I found out that Coinbase has Apps, or applications, that can put in Limit Orders, for you. This may make Coinbase a viable site, for me. You have to be careful what applications you install, of course marc
Coinbase is very good for long-term holding and cashing out (for those that are OK with info going to IRS). The price quoted on Coinbase is based on Bitstamp. When they can't match orders internally, they fulfill demand via Bitstamp. A common complaint is that orders get dropped when the market moves against Coinbase. Ie. someone buys at 400 and BTC is now $500. The bitcoin is about to clear or become available in the customer's account but the customer gets a message saying the trade is nullified. This is a common complaint, but it has not happened to me and I've bought well over 50 times from Coinbase including during the run-up last fall.
huh, where you getting this info from (besides your rear). 1) Show me this "common complaint" where coinbase drops your order after it's placed if the price goes against them. 2) Show me evidence or anything that states coinbase send 1099s or any info to IRS? Stop talking out of your ass.
1. reddit and bitcointalk 2. 1099's were not issued for 2013. that doesn't mean they won't in the future. IMO, one would be a sucker to think that one could cash out via Coinbase w/out worrying about tax implications. don't believe me? see a real accountant or contact this guy: http://www.linkedin.com/pub/tyson-cross/46/a77/449
