Buying calls for a living and arguing with derivman

Discussion in 'Chit Chat' started by Derivman, Apr 24, 2007.

  1. Again, tc5, your kind and helpful thoughts have prompted me to post the following information so that you, and other members of this thread, are fully aware of what it is I am trying to accomoplish as an Options trader.

    1. I am very serious about Option trading for consistent profits.

    2. I have been fortunate enough to meet a veteran Options trader whom was introduced to me when attending a seminar given by my brokerage firm.

    3. This veteran Options trader agreed to teach me what I need to know in order to trade Options for consistent profits. His fee is $5K up front, with 10% commission on my profits for 1.5 years upon completion of training.

    4. My first training programme is to interact with Option Market participants so that I become aware of the psychological issues that Option traders have to overcome.

    5. I was instructed to join a Trading Forum of my choice and then start asking what ever questions I think may be relative to becoming a successful Options trader.

    6. My instructor will then guide me and pinpoint all the rights and wrongs in relation to trading Options for consistent profits.

    7. He has already informed me that the majority of Options traders loose money in the markets and the reasons vary, but that will become apparent to me as I progress.

As some of my replies may seem to contradict myself, this is because my instructor has pointed me in the right direction following a reading of the posts and my questions. I have asked him why I must do this, as many will now say why don’t you just go off and learn with your veteran Options Trader and stop asking questions here, but as he has repeated to me, and stressed this many times when I keep asking, the reason why most Option Traders fail to make consistent profits in the markets is because they do not have the adequate knowledge or experience to do so. It is only by conversing with others that claim to have the relevant knowledge and experience, that he will be able to show me the differences between successful Options Strategies, and mediocre Option Strategies that will never yield consistent profits in the markets. His famous quote is,

“A good General will always survey the battlefield prior to launching an attack”

    He also says the following.

"It is important / imperative to first learn how others think and why they think / believe the way they do. In Options trading only a few survive and your aim is to learn how to survive before you are sent into the battle fields."

Apologies if this has offended anyone, but as I have said many times over, I am very serious about my trading and some of us newbie’s do take Option trading very seriously indeed. I will continue to post as I see fit, and whoever want to join in the discussions are very welcome to do so, and those who do not want to partake are free to do as they wish. I must stress, however, that I may be told to pull back at times in case I divulge any information in relation to my instructor or his trading methods, but as of now, he has no problem in me continuing and posting whatever I think is relative to me becoming a consistent profitable Options trader. Cheers.

  2. Sounds like the Evolution vs. Creationism "debate". Derivman, with this kind of spin you should be a politician.

Perhaps it's time to ignore the "experts" and think for yourself.

  5. MajorUrsa, I have just clearly stated my reasons for posting at Elite, and they are definitely trading related if you take the time to read my reply to the kind post by tc5. Now, as I am still in a good mood over reading the tc5 post again, I will not report you to the mods this time. If you mention trade2win or citybulls again, I will leave out your choice of revolting language at the end of citybulls, then I will not even be replying to you and I will just complain directly to the mods. I hope this will be the last time you mention anyone lese or another website. I have chosen Elite as my trading forum for the work with my instructor, and you or anyone else, like mr profitaker, are under no obligation to post in my thread if my posts are not in agreement with you. It is a free country and you can do what ever you like. You can easily put me on ignore and that will save you and me any hastle, and I can get on with my learning. I did not pay $5K dollars for nothing, and I am not going to leave any so called professional traders, who haven't even the decency to address someone in a civil manner, stop me from progressing to becoming a consistent profitable trader in the Options game. Cheers.

  6. MTE, please note my replies to MajorUrsa. You might think that my thread is ridiculous, but I can assure you that I do not, nor does my instructor. Again, it is a free country and you are free to do whatever you like. All that I ask is that if you are going to post in my thread, then please stick to the topic, which again, I myself was reminded to do on another thread, after which I then left. Cheers.

  7. I give him a few more replies before he utters his dime-store philo. The reference to the absurd citybulls site is overdue.

  8. Derivman,

How is it not a zero sum game? Stop quoting "experts" and do your own thinking. I've now posted at least a half dozen times why options (and futures) are without a doubt a zero sum game unless you construct a false frame of reference. I've given many examples.

Certainly your expert option adviser would want you to be able to explain your opinions rather than blindly repeat them.

    Convince me why:

    You: Buy A, B, C
    Bob: Sells you A, B, C

This is apparently zero-sum to you.

    You: Buy A, B, C
    Bob: Sells you A, B
    Frank: Sells you C

    This is apparently not zero-sum.

You see to be under the delusion that this is your thread. Just because you started a thread doesn't mean its "yours".

  10. Thank you cohenmichaela for the kind words. In relation to becoming a politician, I have been duly notified by my instructor that those guys only earn pittance compared to what can be earned trading Options. Whilst you may be correct in your advice relating to the "experts", I can now honestly say that this is not the case for all experts, the reason should be now obvious as I have clearly stated my purpose on posting at Elite. I now consider this thread as an integral part of my training, and if anyone want's to partake in the discussions that will follow, then they are very welcome and I will share my thoughts honestly, as I always do. Please note that I am a newbie, and I do not profess to be an expert at Option trading yet, but I will become an expert, of that I am sure, for I now have one of the most successful Option traders in the country teaching me, and he is only teaching me because he liked our discussion at the seminar, he does not usually teach anyone, and for that I am grateful to him and will always be indebted to him and his family for their kind generosity and help. Cheers.
