Buyer Beware: Tradestation will flag you as a professional if you don't use gmail, yahoo, etc

  1. What difference does it make at the end when you compare net cost? Admittedly its easier if all just came down to one simple number to compare but it does not make the broker unethical charging whatever they want to charge as long as it's being done in a 100% transparent fashion.

  2. Perhaps you had a few drinks too many? I am not the OP why are you addressing me re trade station? Never subscribed to that crap never will. And why the lengthy response if you don't want to engage on the email issue? It just irks me and bothers me somewhat how so many human beings take so much shit in this world and because of that companies and institutions think they can treat everyone like that and as a result people like me have to pay the price for naive people who are too afraid to hold against stupid and totally illogical policies. Are you seriously saying you send your kids to a school who would not admit said kid if you did not use a public email domain? How much trust do you put into the education and other brainwash your kids will most certainly endure in such school? Makes zero sense but hey, can't change DNA.

  3. The other way around makes at least more sense. Public email domains are extremely unprofessional in business settings. Imagine a business partner or client handed you a business card with a yahoo account or you did such to your clients. Yikes. Perhaps it is acceptable in certain cultures, in many cultures, however it spells the immediate raising of eyebrows and potential end to business relationships. I don't wanna engage with a company that can't train its employees to act professionally nor would I wanna sell to clients who are too cheap to pay a few dollars for a professional email domain in a business setting. Free always comes at a price. No free for me, thanks.

Part of my message...the OP (gaussian) name was accidentally removed and the other part (the part I quoted) was for the person that stated the below...

Don't take it so personally when policies in another country involving school boards have no impact on you nor any impact on the people using those particular schools in reference to you saying It just irks me and bothers me somewhat how so many human beings take so much shit.

Once again, the schools policy is none of your business and the kids are not being brainwash when parents are not allow to use business related email addresses especially when most business email addresses can not connect to many of the private social media functions that the schools uses.

Simply, as your original question stated...care to explain why ?

Its none of your business and do not take it personally. Thus, I choose not to explain why eventhough I strongly believe its obvious in today's world where schools are starting to do many things through social media...something I do not like but that's life at many schools.

I remember a similar like funny outrage back in the 80's when many universities decided to only send academic reporting, billing information, private student info to students university email address (.edu) and then followed up with regular mail a few weeks later.

Some students thought it was weird or thought "big brother was controlling them" when they discover they couldn't get the same info at their Yahoo or Hotmail email addresses nor change from the .edu to a free personal email address at a later date. Students thought they were being "brainwashed", "controlled" and that it was "their right" to chose whatever email address they wanted to use to receive such private information. :D

There are schools that have strange email policies to protect the privacy of their students and others do it to prevent abuse of the system by the parents.

That's my point. Now imagine the opposite in an academic environment when parents try to use their business domain for interaction with school administration. Now imagine receiving private information about your child from his school (grades, school functions, medical alerts and so on) at your business domain address.

Personal (public) and business email addresses...one should not be used for the other. More organizations are enforcing such a policy.

  5. None of your arguments make the slightest sense. Not a single private email domain is deficient in participating in social functions for technical reasons. Any private email domain can receive and send exactly the same content than a public domain one. There is zero technical limitation. The only way things may get filtered is by policies imposed on the domain by choice. But it still should be the choice of the user which email he wants to use. It is just that you ate the BS that was fed to you and now even try to defend it not understanding by yourself the lack of rational behind any of those decisions. And why is it your business when a parent chooses to use whatever email address they want to use? How many more of our freedoms are gonna be stifled because of people like you? Serious question

You can control whom has access to what info via using different email addresses. Personal (public), Personal (private) and Business related.

I believe the privacy problems occurs when people use a single email address for many different things and then when that one email address is stolen, hacked, data mined or whatever...those individuals & organizations have access to "everything" that's private & public info to you.

Serious suggestion...once again...its none of your business. Not sure why that's mute to you.

Hopefully the above is understandable and to the point.

  8. Mate, and wtf is it your business what email people want to use and how they control their privacy or. Lack thereof. You take choices away from others. Not. Cool.
But I don't think you get this line of thought. Let's agree to disagree.

  9. You make it my and everyone's problem in fact by supporting those BS policies. You are an enabler and encourage others to limit everyone's freedom. If you don't understand why it's a crime to pass by when a car accident happens right in front of you or standing by when someone gets raped even if you are not at all directly involved then I can't help you. There is something that is called social responsibility but perhaps that entirely escapes you. I leave it at that.

TradeStation and many organizations seems to make it their business about what email addresses people are using...its life. If people don't like it, they have the freedom to complain and/or use another service.

I don't think you see the contradiction in your statement via your earlier commentary to someone else about personal email address on a business cards...not business like.

Thus, I think we're in more agreement than you think.

Now please move on...enjoy your day.
