  1. Shanghai stock index up huge, but copper is not following...at all.
    Ominous, I'd say.

  3. Strong new housing activity and now a risk-on environment ?.... yet HG and in fact all of the metals are weak today.
No logic at work here at all.

  4. Alcoa's weak report sparks general weakness in all metals and mining stocks. Aluminum price drop cited.

Copper down huge today to 3.55.....natch.

  5. Copper back near that 3.70-3.80 zone-to-short.
I think all metals are overpriced at this point.
But so far, they've refused to tank.

  8. I saw it coming a long time ago

That's why I sold all mine at 1340 and recomended everybody else do the same

Now I keep 10 to 20% in GLD

    it's not a money maker

    just a stabalizer

but you are correct. This is a good time to get a read on Gold vs the dollar, and also gold and the dollar vs crude

but this guy wants to talk about copper, and I don't like to hijack

the funny thing about copper. 100% of it is recycled. So hard to read.

For instance, what is the affect of Hurricane Sandy on copper?

Hard to know, since none of it was lost, just displaced for a little while.

Like I said, go down there to Douglas AZ where it comes across, and down there to Mexico and just look at the deal. It's not that much different from looking at the old mines in Denver.

Until something changes (or more accurately goes back to the way it was) I'd hardly call it a vibrant industry.

As goes alcoa, so probably goes copper.

  9. Copper is the strong player today...down only 2.5 cents.
Whew, Gold and Silver taking it on the chin.
With the Fed warning, I think the precious metals play is over.

  10. I'm not so sure copper is all that prescious, and that goes for lead and aluminum also. If you are fighting for high copper, you may as well be fighting for high crude. And where is that going to get you?

I don't really need any copper unless I have something to build.

Gold and silver are currencies. So goes the dollar, so goes gold and silver.

No qe5? no need to short the dollar, no need to buy silver
