And there's all the proof one needs to see that most people believe the economy is improving. When they think things are going to the crapper, they stop spending. When they think they'll be making even more later, they start buying.

  3. What Exxon makes is of no more concern to me than what A-Rod earns. Your pal Barbara Streisand was in SoFla a few months back with tickets priced at $300 and up. How socialist of her.

I don't know that socialists want to limit what people can earn, just that sufficient percentages of what they earn by living in America and taking advantage of the system, go back to the less fortunate Americans in a manner that no one needs to be without health insurance, sufficient nutrition, a reasonable retirement, etc.

In your mind is the only important measure of real economic strength in America the S&P 500?

Please tell me that you don't think that the price of stocks really measures the underlying strength of an economy...especially an economy based on consumerism and borrowing.

  5. What? According to what source? Have you fully read it? Do you even have the slightest idea of how these calculations are done?

Your whole post lost serious credibility with that one. And the Miami comment, lol. Those are some real winners building and buying condos 10 feet from the water.

It's not about picking sides, it's about looking at the real picture. The Bush nuthuggers may be in denial, but that's nothing comparing to the Clinton nuthuggers when you tell them just how "great" Clinton's economy truly was. Or the truth about his "surplus", that's the best one.

Man, the more I learn, the more I impressed by US propaganda & population conditioning tactics. F**king genius.

  6. Do you doubt that virtually ANYONE can get a job in this economy? Even if it's busboy ect? The U.S. is AWASH in jobs.

  7. Getting a job that doesn't pay enough to live above the poverty level is your idea of a strong economy?

Awash in menial labor jobs, jobs with wages that have not kept pace with real inflation...

  8. LOL, that's actually funny, that must be why the only comparable negative savings rate in the american history was in 1933 during the Great Depression - because people feel good about the economy.

  9. The soviet union had full employment, so do Cuba and North Korea today. Those must be two very strong economies according to Pabst's definition.

Do yourself a favor and really look at how this number is computed. It has NOTHING to do with savings.
