As I eluded to earlier I registered for the draft as was required by law at the time of my 18th birthday and would have then and now gladly serve if called up. If I'm not mistaken by current standards I'm about 5 years too old. If it makes you pantie waist bleeding hearts feel any better my only son was already in the army before 9/11. He was a SGT in the 101st, combat infantry, and was over there for the invasion of Iraq. He came back home that October, just ahead of his unit, as he was scheduled for discharge. Thanks largely to the stellar efforts of my ex wife to drive a wedge between me and our two children I'm not very close with him. But the last I heard he was going back into the army and will be attending OCS, if he's not there already. Obviously unless something changes he's likely to be sent back to Iraq.
