Browser Security Question

Discussion in 'Trading Software' started by TruthTeller, Jan 13, 2006.

  1. My broker uses a web-based HTML ordering page. I've read in the past that it isn't a good idea to leave a page like this open when on an always-on cable or DSL line.

I'm wondering if this is in fact true provided I have firewall and basic security systems in place. And if so, why?

Any browser expert want to help me with this? Thanks.

  2. What leaving the page open have to do with being on an always on cable connection I have no idea.

the way web pages work, there is no "connection" between you and the server. When you submit something (click on a link, button, etc), your browser sends a request to the server. The server replies. Thats it. There is no connection being kept open.

Even if there was, I don't see what security issue there would be that would have to do with you being online all the time or only part of the time. Somebody is blowing smoke :)
