This is my first post here, and I am not sure if this is the right place. I started reading ET when I started swing trading. I thought I would check out the possibility of becoming a broker. This is my first experience. I have a phone interview scheduled for Monday, but they want me to fill out some forms before then. The basic jist of the forms, is that I am giving them permission to do any kind of check that they want to on me. If I was farther along in the process, or if the form said that the information would only be used for the hiring process, it would make more sense to me. But it seems really early in the process to be asking me to give them permission to do any check they want. Is this how it works in the finance industry?
Before you give them any personal info go to www.nasdr.com and do a broker check. But to answer your question. Yes a background check is the norm. http://pdpi4.nasdr.com/pdpi/broker_search_frame.asp
