  1. I use a telstra cable connection (had adsl previously). Delay to Hong Kong IB server is under 175ms. Used to be about 230ms to US so I imagine that Europe would be 300ms or less.

    So, worst case, thats under 6/10ths of a second round trip added by the communications.

    But ... don't get a cheap internet provider like TPG or dodo. The delay is largely determined by the load on the backend system and the reason that they're cheap is that they squash a lot of customers into a circuit.

    Jeez. "Global village" doesn't even begin to describe the current situation. We're talking about access to any continent on earth in less than one second. Where will it all end? What will this enable in the future (and not just in trading)?
