Speaking of protests....protests are about to get wild...if these markets continue to sell off, job losses start to climb higher and higher and inflation runs rampant there will be tens of millions of people protesting around the US very soon. Might get so bad they will have statt martial law..

  2. You people don't understand diddly squat. Your personal hatred and disgust for Donald Trump has you so blinded you can't even see what he is doing. You don't like him as a person. That colors your entire perspective. That is all you can focus on is Donald Trump as a person not what he is doing that is good for America. Do you have bird shit in your eyes?

Now here is a man that understands what Trump is doing. Watch the video maybe you will see a little better, but I doubt it. I am so glad that America is now not run by people like you Trump detractors here on ET and those Trump and Musk protestors and haters.

  3. Fer crying outloud! You are an alarmist par excellence. Jobs actually went up! The markets are going to turn bullish. Inflation will go down not up. There will be NO martial law. Man go drink a few beers and chill out. Good grief!

The great thing about these forums is we can go back years and decades and one thing i will be coming back for is too prove how wrong these tarriffs are and how worse the economy will get over the years ahead.

Like I said numerous times.....wallstreet is forward looking and if wallstreet is forward looking why has it lost trillions and trillions of dollars in only hours since the announcements made on liberation day??

You have no idea how bad this is going to get...we may even go into a depression....there is absolutely no way possible we can have a continous trade war and have economic expansion at the same time. The retaliations alone are going to create havoc and chaos upon every economy around the world. Prices are already inflated, and Secondly that job report is last months. Wait till you see where unemployment will be by end of 2025. It's going to skyrocket if these tarriffs stay in place.

Dude will be proven very wrong....

Over 10 yrs ago trump mentioned bringing jobs back to America. He spoke about this during his entire last term and here we are today talking about the same exact thing from nearly a decade ago....

Nothing happened...how many jobs did we bring back?

Politicians democrat and Republicans and all other politicians are fucking liars ...they all fucking lie and the people of America keep falling for the lies......

Well, I took the bait and watched that trainwreck of a video. And, not surprisingly, it was just another glorified Trump propaganda piece. Not a shred of actual evidence was given to back up any of his claims—all just wishful thinking.

Now, if you could kindly refund me the 20 minutes of my life I’ll never get back, that’d be great. BTW you're an asshole.

    And here we goooooooooooo!!!!!!!

Fact Check: Did the Trump tariffs increase US manufacturing jobs?

    The answer is

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

The tariffs Trump imposed on Chinese goods in 2018 had a net negative effect on manufacturing jobs as well overall U.S. employment.

The Federal Reserve Board found that the tariffs caused a reduction in manufacturing employment of 1.4%. Modest gains (0.3%) achieved by shielding domestic producers from foreign competition were “more than offset” by rising production costs for manufacturers who used steel as an input (-1.1%) and retaliatory tariffs (-0.7%).

Federal Reserve data recorded approximately 12.4 million manufacturing jobs when Trump became president in January 2017 and 12.2 million when he left in January 2021. There were 12.9 million manufacturing jobs in September 2024, although job creation in the manufacturing sector and manufacturing’s share of total employment are lower than pre-tariff rates.

Economy-wide, Oxford Economics estimated in 2021 that the tariffs and resulting trade war cost 245,000 jobs and 0.5% of GDP while reducing real incomes by $675 per household.

Haven't we been through this already, the old "sky is falling" routine? If the markets sell off, jobs get lost, and inflation skyrockets, sure, protests do happen once in a while.

    But martial law?

You need to calm the fuck down, General Patton. You really think martial law’s just around the corner because of a rough patch in the economy? Seriously, you need to dial down that Hollywood fantasy rhetoric. Nobody wants to see tanks rolling over bodies and soldiers shooting randomly at protesters.

I mean, geezus, whenever things get rough, you jump straight to worst-case scenario every time, treating every economic dip like the next apocalypse.

  10. [QUOTE="schizo, post: 6114577, member: 105578"instead of pretending tariffs are some magic fix, how about we focus on investing in industries that actually make sense for the US in the long run? Maybe renewable energy or tech that requires high skill set and not just cheap labor. Or, instead of killing global trade, why not create policies that bring companies back to the US with real incentives like R&D tax breaks or infrastructure improvements?
    [/QUOTE]

Yep, THAT would be the grown-up thing to do.

And, yep, Trump, a guy who cowardly ran away from serving in the military, his treatment of a real hero like Zelensky defending the freedom of the West, sthg ALL US Presidents since WW2 have stood for, was the most shameful scene out of the Oval Office I have seen in all my life.

Like a Mafia Don dressing down a shopkeeper for being late on his protection money, for protection that aint forthcoming no more, cause, ya know, Putin was the victim, and Zelensky the aggressor.

    Sick !!!
