I haven't checked in a day or so but just did so now.It looks like Trump has gained but still below 2020's numbers. That said I always believed Democrats would lose because of millions of people leaving the Democrat Party because they are so horrible, not because people became pro Trump. The election results prove that to be true imo.Personally I am one of those people.I didn't vote Harris, but I didn't vote for Trump either.Thats also what 14 million 2020 voters did too.
It depends where you look, but let's just say---CA has only counted 57 percent so they probably have 5 to 9 million more to count.
Respectfully disagree with that.Harris lost because Democrats didn't do what they promised to do in 2020,or even come close or attempted to imo.I would also add their genocide in Gaza played a role.
I don't think or ever thought Mr Tsing Tao was a MAGA Trumper, more of a DeSantis conservative (Mr Tsing Tao please correct me if I'm wrong). That said it would not be unusual for a DeSantis conservative to vote for Trump if he is The GOP's nominee as many of their policies align.
The political careers of Joe Biden,Kamala Harris,Joe Manchin,John Tester,Kyrsten Sinema and Bob Casey all came to an end this week. The moderate Democrat Party that you support is not where the country is imo ,at least not for millions of left wing voters.
Tony was kind of both. I think one of the reasons why Bernie has more crossover appeal than the Squad is he's primarily focused on economic issues and doesn't get heavily involved with modern cultural issues. He doesn't really play the identity politics game except along economic class lines. He also comes across as authentic unlike more establishment politicians. For that, I do think he could have won in 2016 as he could have kept some working class voters with the Democrats.
I think it may turn out that Musk will be president; Putin Vice President, and RFK jr will be put in charge of dismantling the CDC.
The top three biggest promises in Biden's speech... #1 - End the Covid Pandemic with Covid Vaccines...accomplished in 2022 but Biden failed to mention it was Trump/Pence Operation Warp Speed that discovered the Covid Vaccines. That promise was under something Biden called "Reign in the Pandemic" and then he said "I’m never going to raise the white flag and surrender. We’re going to beat this virus. We’re going to get it under control, I promise you.” along with making a tongue-n-cheek commentary about Trump's poor Pandemic Management without mentioning Trump's name. #2 - Rebuild Americas Infrastructure...a +4 year project under the theme of Rebuilding the Economy. #3 - Bring back American jobs after the economy returns from the Pandemic #4 - Expand VA Healthcare Benefits...at the time of that announcement...Biden wasn't specific and Harris didn't mention any follow-up with specific benefit detail. Two years later in August of 2022...the PACT was created...expanding Veterans and Active Duty healthcare benefits. By the way, today is Veterans Day This was important to me because as a Veteran who lives abroad...expansion of VA benefits connected my military healthcare abroad to France and Quebec, Canada's healthcare system. Essentially it gave my primary physicians in France and Quebec, Canada sharing abilities with the VA Hospital in the United States about my health history. In 2016, I almost died from pneumonia and lapsed into a coma after I was given medication I was allergic to. Now, that will not happen to another Veteran living abroad in allied countries. There are other expansion of VA Benefits, so far, I have not had any need for but maybe those benefits will become important as I become older. With that said, there were other promises that Democrats failed but most of those didn't have support from the Republicans, and a few involved the southern border. They did promise to open that up and they did do that...the border issue would later come back to bite them on the ass. Another promise that failed...to end Gun Violence and he seemed to be targeting assault weapons like AR-15. Too much resistance from Congressional members and Gun Lobbyists. We all know what happened with that. Record-setting mass shootings from assault weapons like AR-15 and Trump himself became a victim of an assassination attempt by someone using a AR-15 like weapon, another person died and others were wounded in that attempt on Trump's life. The shooter didn't understand that an AR-15 is a poor choice for long-range shooting even with a scope. In my opinion, there were other big failures...protecting voter rights and abortion rights. The Supreme Court had a big say about that...something no Democrat could overcome. Now that the election has concluded...historical statistics have it correct...positive for the stock market but not so for treasuries/bonds. America's CEOs who own stocks in their companies...profited by hundreds of millions of dollars and maybe billions depending upon if they had bonuses tied to their stock ownership. Today, record highs in S&P, Nasdaq, Dow and Crypto. The markets did not crash as many naysayers have been predicting it would do under a Biden/Harris administration but they did predict accurately the rise in Inflation, Cost of Living, and Fuel at the Pumps to get us out of that damn Pandemic. Investments in technology and AI into rural communities are now on hold...most likely will end. Affordable high-speed internet, safe roads and bridges, modern wastewater systems, clean drinking water (removal of toxic lead), reliable and affordable electricity, and good paying jobs in every rural community. The above issue with rural communities infrastructure may not seem important to people who do not live in a rural community but most of my relatives live in Red states and within rural communities. My brother (a doctor in South Dakota)...the fiber optics that was scheduled to be built next month in his rural town is now on hold since Trump's election victory. Further, my brother is more concerned about immigrants in his town who have jobs doing the dirty work/hard work that others do not want to do because the pay is too low. Also, Republicans promise to move federal governments out of Washington like the EPA to cut wasteful dollars. They are talking about moving thousands of jobs by experienced workers. Analysts predict most will not relocate and that will force the government to hire NEW employees that do not have the experience to do these government jobs. As a reminder, Trump is the most known President that LIES. It will be very interesting to know which of his promises to shake up America will come to fruitation at the end of his Presidential term. I hope it is a LIE about his plans to rebuild GAZA after Israel does what it wants to do...rebuild GAZA into a Monaco South. https://rollcall.com/2024/10/17/why-trumps-vision-of-post-war-gaza-has-gained-little-traction/ If the above occurs, I am confident there will be a Trump Resort or Trump Golf Course built there. You did mention genocide in GAZA. wrbtrader
The 1972 race helps us to define "Landslide". 1972 Presidential Election Richard M. Nixon The United States presidential election of 1972 was the 47th quadrennial United States presidential election. It was held on November 7, 1972. The Democratic Party's nomination was eventually won by Senator George McGovern, who ran an anti-war campaign against incumbent Republican President Richard Nixon, but was handicapped by his outsider status as well as the scandal and subsequent firing of vice presidential nominee Thomas Eagleton. Emphasizing a good economy and his successes in foreign affairs (especially ending American involvement in Vietnam and establishing relations with China), Nixon won the election in a massive landslide (a higher proportion than in 1964, when Lyndon B. Johnson overwhelmingly defeated Barry Goldwater). Nixon won the election, with a 23.2% margin of victory in the popular vote, the fourth largest margin in presidential election history. He received almost 18 million more popular votes than McGovern—the widest margin of any U.S. presidential election. Source: Wikipedia
