I just took the time to review some of the silly criticismys, and don't worry, my self esteem and ego are intact. The funny comments about my "yelling" has cracked up about 20 of our guys...evidently you haven't seen my brother...LOL...I'm, by far, the more mellow...heck, he even yells at me at times. What happens in any teaching evironment is that you get one or two who try to "dominate" the class, showing off what they think they know, don't like to be corrected...which has to be done for the benifit of the rest of the class. You've all seen it at seiminars and even back in school. I have 100 or more new people on my IM, and my office door is always open for questions about anything....we have several instructors, with different styles and teaching methods...and some students like some, maybe don't get along with others, just like College...you had teachers you didn't like, or didn't like their style....but hopefully, you didn't let your prejudice interfere with your education. I've been teaching trading for a decade or longer, trade in front of people, sure sometimes I get stuck, we all do... Hundreds of new people have literally begged to sit next to someone so they can learn, we offer that, and a few people rag on us....it's the old 90/10 rule...but I can' let the 10% or fewer keep me from wanting to do the right thing for new people. Some people are so tunnel visioned, that they may never be able to get ahead, but that leaves more room for those who have good attitudes, don't think everyone is "out to get them" - and believe in some big conspiracy (from Specialists and trading firms, to WMD and the grassy knoll). My daily trip down the ET posts always make me smile. All the best to the 90%, LOL. Have a good weekend... Don (the nice brother)...
LOL, I would be that guy. My manager and I were just chatting about this...how managers need to know everything, while some traders just have no clue. He said he'd look over someones account, profitable, and yet they are absolutely clueless about trading related stuff. Example, doesn't know what NX is but trades NYSE. (i'm not joking) Another one is can't actually tell you what an ECN is. (that would be me. if a friend asked, i'd probably say, "uh...its faster then routing to the specialist with belz (if they asked me what belz was i couldn't really tell them)...i don't get charged for leaving my order there forever...uh...when a speicalist spreads the stock past my stop, if i panic i'll hit the ecn's that are lagging. Then they ask, "so what is it, exactly, tell me the process". I'd go, "uh...ECN stands for electronic communication network"...so...you know...its electronic.) now i'd probably give a better answer for why a specialist spreads a stock, but when it comes to other things, managers seem to know it all vs. some traders are embarrassingly deficient.
riskarb wrote: beautiful. ElectricSavant You haven't a clue. Why don't you ask Bob what he thinks about Forex trading?
I know...his attitude is like every other equities trader that I have posted with...nothing new...he also shares the "video game" view of Futures trading...
I have to dive in again (whoda thought, eh?)... Bob trades probably between 500-2000 emini's a day, and is the most profitable futures trader in our firm, maybe the only profitable one. Foreign Exchange is fine, trade the FXE. The many "forex firms" out there luring the unwary have been a concern for decades. (again, just clarifying).... as in Boston Legal, Denny Crane...LOL.. "Name is on the door" LOL.... just got my press credentials for the World Series of Poker, entered the "media-celebrity" event again...gonna be pretty busy after trading hours, but I'll keep up on what is happening. Maybe some of you can, perhaps, go badger my friends at echo or swiftrade, or ...well, HLV...that should keep you busy for a while.......(just kidding). Have a good weekend. Don
Don Bright, do you teach how to trade the emini in your classes also? Or just stocks? I'm looking for emini mentoring.
lol don does bob really trade 500-2000 emini's a day? that must be how he made 15 mil last year?is he a member of the cme paying 40 cent a r/t? does he scalp in and out all day?he must be doing 50 or 100 lots? i guess that satisfy's his gambling graving from the old days?lastly does bob sit there all day trading like a 20 year old and how old is he?
Can we route emini S&P500 contracts to any market like we route to ECN's with stocks? I can't find any info on it. My contracts sit on strategy runner platform for up to 20 seconds before they buy my limit order. There must be a faster way to get the fill. Anybody know?
