Brief History of Christianity and Capitalism

  1. That's fine murry.

However, there are other passages in both the new and old testament that you are not praising.

I'm not here to say that you are wrong, but I do see many people be quite selective in their quotes.

Not being a Christian or a Jew, I have no need to reconcile the seeming conflicts...and you can ignore them if you want, but no one has said the quotes presented by the Catholic author are invalid and false.

In any way from a Biblical perspective, can you show me where it says that greed is good?

Also, you follow the proverb with "wealth" and "capital" but how do you know that the word substance meant material things?

Couldn't it just as easily mean your soul?

Honor the Lord with your substance (soul).

Not saying you are wrong, just suggesting that you may not be right in the way you are interpreting the word substance...

There are plenty of Christian socialists, who do honor God, so your claim "sociaism is an attempt to make history without God." is not necessarily true.

We see Godless capitalists, and Godless socialists...but the argument being made in this thread is that, according to the Catholic who wrote it...socialist thinking, caring about society, understanding that man does not live by bread alone...but still every man needs bread to live...makes a compelling argument for his case.
