As I look back on 2013 I just wanted to thank everyone on the straight line team for helping me along in my trading journey. DB has taught me a ton and even though he did not always tell me what I wanted to hear he told me what I needed to hear. So hers to a great New Year to everyone on the thread and to those who have helped me in the last year. I still have along ways to go but I am light years ahead of last year. Thanks, Steve

Have a wonderful new year everyone. To the lurkers, please dare to post. We get tired of saying the same things to the same people. Db and his dry humour can keep the spirits high for only so long.

I would like to thank those who post here, including myself, for being so handsome. Without these selfless souls a highly specialized task such as drawing a straight line would have become infinitely more difficult .

I'll briefly mention a few members here who have served on the USS Enterprise permanently or temporarily:

Niko: With his forever quest to define everything, one step at a time, he is one of a kind. He was last seen working at perfecting some singular aspect of trading in isolation. His perennial belief that he's a long way from getting there is a long way off the mark. He has been a valuable member for a considerable time and was instrumental in helping with the transition of the Enterprise from the old docking station to the new this year. He's a loyal friend with the ability to speak multiple languages, which allows him to also work with the communications team.

Game: Although not originally from Earth, he is partially a part of the crew due to his cross-planetary internships. He is attempting to graduate from Starfleet Academy. With his constant emotional control, persistent self-evaluation and critique, he can be easily recognized as the only Vulcan visitor. He does ask tough questions that are at times deeply rooted in logic, and at times too deeply so. His quest to make a method out of trading is moving at a steady pace. He is loved here, although, his control over emotions would not permit him to experience this emotion.

Redneck:He revels in making guest appearances, usually whenever there is someone in need. Philosophical extrapolation of the unsophisticated into the sophisticated, for the unsophisticated, understood only by the sophisticated is his modus operandi. He is generally unaligned but can turn hostile if someone else fires the first phaser burst, be it at a third party. His depths cannot be fathomed by mere mortals, but only by partly mortals. Immortals tend to avoid him. His devised communication frequencies can be used to calculate the distance between the starship and the target planet. The more this communication sounds less garbled, the closer the starship is to the promised land.

Slugar: He’s the Empath on the star ship. His ability to read emotions is greater than his ability to read price. He could be considered the antithesis of the logic exhibited by game above. Despite this disparity in temperament he seems to be making some progress. Sensitivity to emotions has lead him to notice the coolness some have shown towards him. He believes he’s being singled out to wallow in the purgatory of the empathy-less isolation even though he deserves encouragement. He has some of the inherent abilities of warp travel. Believes he has travelled a light year in the past one year. His promotions depend on whether he can get disciplined enough to pay attention to the details and can remain focused.

Bmwhendrix: He seems to have an understanding of how the ship works. He’s a man of few words but does enjoy the adventure. He seems to experiment fearlessly with the complexities that space travel offers by utilizing alternate modes of travel. He may be close to the final frontier.

Hooti: A consistent, and even headed crew member. Doesn’t create fuss and gets around to his business every day. His persistence and lack of imposition on others is a hallmark that makes him a rock to count on when the going gets tough. He also is getting closer to light.

babe714: He's new, yet has served in all kinds of battleships before. Scars and multiple defeats have not blunted his persistent will. He has shown poise under varying stressful conditions and has become proficient at identifying how and when to maneuver into a position. He is equipped with a visor that allows him to see things a bit deeply. It has helped him identify, the varying degrees of pressures around the hull, and to correct them before they become too dangerous. He owes his visor and the resulting enhanced vision to one named DbPhoenix.

Heroic: He had a meteoric rise, and had a promising future on the Enterprise. He got captured by the Borg on an away mission, and was assimilated. His speech patterns have changed drastically after this assimilation. In addition of using normal verbs and nouns, he can be observed communicating in an highly algorithmic Borg lingo, with words such as EE, P1, T1 or A1 in abundance. He is still missed at the deck. The hope of his return is minimal but existent.

DbPhoenix: He’s the captain of the star ship. He has a peculiar blend of a personality that oscillates from being almost friendly to being almost sarcastic. The dark humour he espouses acts like red matter, with the ability to obliterate, if not handled with care. He carries on his legs a weight of someone who has seen it all. His over zealousness to help each and every crew member has taken it's toll on him. The bitter experience of wasted time on incompletely committed cadets has forced him to become more selective. He is still available, and on the look out for those who are willing to explore and do the tough work. The aim again to turn these crew members into a formidable force. A force that is able to keep up with the finest in explorers in space, who are willing and able to go where not many have gone before. There is this mystery surrounding this man, who despite having years of captains log on multiple star ships and docking stations is still an enigma. He has given more to the cause of teaching cadets in the finer art of navigation through rapidly changing conditions than many a great captains combined. He is the heart and soul of the star ship Enterprise.

With that I conclude my summary of those on this thread. There are bound to be those worthy, who have been missed. Others are welcome to offer this thoughts on those comrades. I await your analysis of the one named Gringo, who was not profiled here despite my having a high opinion of him. I am sure many are going to find enough ammunition in this post to blast that poor soul back to the stone age. But that fortunately can only happen next year. I wish everyone a Happy New Year and hope to continue interacting with you all in the future.

And I hope that lurkers participate in Gringo's three threads as well. Make bazillions in only minutes a day.

A proud Engineer of the Enterprise in his youth, he has since abdicated this role for a simpler way of life. He is now a tailor. As part of Enterprise's reconnaissance element, he can be seen exploring distant worlds in the Galaxy Journaling Away. With a pencil in his ear and a tape across his neck, he roams the wild, bending and measuring all sorts of lines. Recently, he found himself before a heavenly sphere. There were no lines to measure - no tape to use. Facing a crisis of faith in cold interstellar space, he found himself drifting and purposeless.
Such an ordeal would have broken many a man. But there is a reason he is Force Recon. When all else fails, our intrepid explorer breaks out into poetry. And he is renewed.
