I guess there has always been politics involved in Court nominations, but it would seem this has reached the point of absurdity in the two most recent picks. Going forward, it would be nice if merit gained though wide experience and demonstrated dispassionate application of the law without regard to personal ideology were the primary attributes sought in candidates. I suppose the joking going on in this thread is the direct result of our losing respect for the Court due to questionable appointments by Trump and McConnell's insistence that no candidate could get so much as a hearing unless he ordained the candidate as compatible with his own agenda, which he announced as including doing "whatever it takes to assure Obama is a one term President." In other words, he told us all in plan language that he would work to see that the government failed.

Read yesterday that Romney is fund-raising for Liz Cheney's reelection campaign. I'm just not sure how I can place a vote for the party of Mitt Romney and Liz Cheney. It is entirely possible that I will restrict my voting to State, County and Local only. GOP is going to have to purge itself or many like me aren't having it.
corporatism survives right wing fascism just fine Tony, they've chosen their side & it ain't democracy
Probably look more like the obligatory senior year thesis surfacing wherein all of America and white people are trashed and Che Guevera being idolized. Not saying that is a show stopper. Just that some version of that is to be expected, along with some old emails. If I were in the Senate, I would start right in by asking her why she was servicing an entire rape line at a party in high school just to get things going a smidge. Then watch all the tv cameras panning over to her family to see how that it is working out for them. If you can't find anything on her, just make something up as the dems did.
