Brent Crude

Discussion in 'Commodity Futures' started by youngtrader, Dec 29, 2007.

  1. I have a few questions about this commodity.

    1. Is the general monthly roll period the same as CL?

    2. Isn't it a little more liquid during the early morning hours than CL?

    3. Anything different about this contract that makes it more/less appealing?

I would like to trade this market between 3am-7:30am (im in high school so these are pretty much the only hours possible for me). I recently pulled up a 15 min chart on feb brent on openecry and it only shows price action to dec 3? They havn't stopped trading feb already have they?

Any info any of you knowledgeble oil traders could give me would be greatly appreciated.

ICE Brent contract rolls about a week earlier than CL...there is somtimes more volume during early hours in brent, but in my experience the bid/ask spreads are still better in CL at just about any time of day. IMO scalping or swing trading of crude, the best contract is CL and brent is suited more to spreading between other grades, etc...
