I would be out of all my stock pick positions from a couple of weeks ago, yet I noticed that the major U.S. indices are not back on their way down yet. So, I was curious as to what market sectors might be propping them up. I therefore looked for a list of ETFs I could use to check this out, which I'm listing here (in part) for future reference and to compare their relative prices:

I've given up on Schwab and reopened an account with E*TRADE, who I used when I was trading stocks before (like ten years ago). I was able to fund the account at the same time that I opened it, so I guess Schwab has lost out on any opportunity to get my business.

I anticipate shorting the market at some point over the next two years and am therefore saving the following information here for my convenience...

  4. @expiated, if you like ETFs then you might also look into treasury ETFs like TMF and TMV or maybe TTT. When stocks are going up, treasuries are going down and vice versa. Between TMF/TMV, TQQQ/SQQQ, NUGT/DUST, GUSH/DRIP, and LABU/LABD, you can diversify quite a bit with just ETFs. The only thing is, when price movement is sideways the ETFs can cost you money to hold. In a strong bull or bear market these instruments can be excellent swing trades. Trading the LABs and the leveraged Q's has given me a few big big days, and lots of steady gains over multi-day trades. For a beginner, you can do a lot worse than to just hold TQQQ with a stop under it.

I looked at a number of the inverse index ETF charts yesterday and didn't like their price behavior at all. I looked at TMF, TMV and TTT this morning and only found TMF to look "normal." TMV and TTT looked just as bad as the reverse index ETFs, so TMV looks like the only promising candidate for me thus far. Thanks for the tip!.

You should have zoomed in on the charts, buddy. If you had, they wouldn't have looked so bad. PSQ, SH, and DOG are doable, but after taking a closer look, it appears you'd get much more bang for your buck by keeping your capital in Forex, or if trading equities, at least going with individual stocks rather than index ETFs.

The Nasdaq appears to be on the brink of going wholesale bearish to me, so tomorrow I might purchase a few shares of PSQ via my new E*Trade account. If I do, however, it will be a purely academic move made in preparation for if I ever manage to advance to serious investing given that shorter-term speculation in the Forex market is where there exists the greatest potential for generating a daily income for me at this time (given my limited resources).

So far, this is not a move that I'm regretting...

Yesterday I was up...but today I am down. PSQ is losing its bullish look to me, so as of two minutes ago, I am out of this position.
