Sure. All US law enforcement officers are trained to aim for center of mass, unbroken by cover. Breaking it down:
Suspect advancing: shoot for center of mass, which will be the torso.
Suspect is turned to his right or left side: the target just got smaller, but torso, again.

For the strange shootings I've seen/studied:

Suspect laying under pick up truck shooting at Troopers, and all that can be seen is the top of his head, part of a left shoulder, and part of a right shoulder: the head, as that's now become center of mass.

Suspect peeping out of a window while taking shots at police: Trooper who's trained with an M1A1; shot the suspect above the right eye as that was now center of mass.

One I'd rather forget: 911 call to rural, redneck/biker type bar for "man with gun in dispute with girlfriend, and other undisclosed white males. Crowd gathering in gravel lot."Arrive on scene; approach suspect who draws revolver at approaching Trooper at 7-8 feet distance. Shots fired center of mass, meaning torso.

That's called a "body armor drill," meaning just that. Suspect wearing body armor. I've never encountered it thank God, but believe that is an effective stopper. If hit in the torso (wearing a level III vest), with anything .38 and larger, those rounds spread quite up the energy across the torso often causing, broken rib(s), "wind knocked out," etc., which 'can' slow a suspect enough for a better sight picture for that third round.

Weetod, I forgot to mention, we were trained to shoot until the threat(s) are stopped. That could mean as many rounds fired as necessary to stop the attack(s). And yes, in case anyone's curious, I wouldn't do that job in 2014 if my balls depended on it! I'd piss myself while closing the car door saying 10-8/41.

You nailed it!!!! I guess the patrolman was supposed to take an ass whipping like a man, and let the animal run wild with a powerful firearm, and extra magazines to boot once ol' cracker pig's down? Oh, I forgot, the aggressor happened to be black. Yep, that's one cop who should have just stood there and took whatever "deserved."

The sad thing is, at the very least this cop is going to have to vigorously defend his freedom in court, and he will never live a normal life again. His life is over all because some parasites like Al Sharpton chose to latch onto him. There is no choice at this point, if this guy goes free without going to court, every urban centre in america will burn.

Its fucking pathetic, you have built an entire thread dedicated to police brutality, yet somehow liberals always manage to choose the losing causes. Its almost as if they are trying to pick the worst cases possible. We could probably find 2 dozen examples of police brutality that would be open and shut in court on your thread, and for some reason they choose to latch onto pieces of shit like this Michael Brown guy.
