  1. Overnight

    Overnight

I would think that Warren's numbers are increasing because after Sanders had his heart attack, people would shift their preference to Warren, since those two have more similar ideas than Warren and Biden did.

That is part of it. The other part of it is that Biden's dirty laundry is being exposed and people don't like.

Now Hillary wants in. These dems really dont have much to offer.

President Trump and the 2020 Election

Today, President Trump's job approval is nearly identical to a week ago - today, it is a negative 40 - 54 percent approval rating. Last week, his approval rating was a negative 41 - 53 percent. Warren's lead in double digits, Biden now in 3rd place behind Bernie.

Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren has increased her lead over former Vice President Joe Biden to double digits, according to the latest George Washington University poll.

Warren has pushed ahead of both Biden and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders in the newest poll released just ahead of Tuesday evening's CNN/The New York Times 2020 Democratic debate. Warren tops the Democratic candidate field with 28 percent of the vote while Sanders comes in second with 21 percent. Biden, who has maintained his status as Democratic front-runner since entering the race in the spring, has fallen to just 18 percent.

  6. To me it is more telling, and not in a good way, that Bernie has moved up to 2d and Butti et al have not gained significantly at all. Painting a bad picture for Dems versus the GOP rants the party is moving towards socialism. Bernie only screams one track minded cliches with no other substance.

  7. There is a lot of madness and ridiculous reframing going on.

The notion that Biden was or is a moderate is absurd. It's all relative. We went through the same thing with Hillary. She was always known as being Che Guevera's sister and then Obama comes along and suddenly she is the moderate.

So, on a tv snippet today, I heard Chris Wallace saying that as biden continues to slide there is growing support for Buttigeg to take his place as the moderate. Oy. These guys are all lefties- very far left. I think maybe the gov of montana who got bumped out might qualify as a moderate- within the dem party but still plenty left. And some things about Delaney were moderate, I think. Also bumped out.

  8. Yeah but Biden us willing to moderate since deep down he is not as far left as Bernie. BERNIE is out and out far left and is gaining popularity for wrong reasons.

But let's be clear, there are no moderates in a primary, they have to win their party nomination. None of the GOP candidates in 2016 primary were anything but moderates.

But in general election is where we will see and Biden can moderate...Bernie and Warren not so much.

  9. There is not going to be any Biden in a general election. That's why the dems who see that are casting around trying to make someone else- think Buttigieg- appear to be moderate. That isnt going to work either, but it is their dilemma. The pubs have their problems with Trump, but things are a mess over in demville too- bigly. Every frigging one of the clowns is on record for supporting something that equates to open borders, for abortion even after birth- aka infanticide, and some form or medicare for all. No moderates in that bunch. Just because they need one, does not mean one of them is. Tulsi, I guess is moderate on a couple issues by dem standards but no one is seriously positioning her for the moderate-de jour when Biden tanks. Bootyplug and the media think he could be, this week anyway. He isn't, but they need him to be. Could be someone else next week. I guess they try their luck with Klobuchar sometimes too.

Bernies is not going to be the nominee but his supporters are die hard, which increases the chances that no one will get the magic number and the whole thing will shit the bed into a brokered convention. Biden has some die hard supporters too, certainly not even remotely all of them but enough who will want to dig their heels in after others have defected to warren. That too increases the chances of a brokered convention.

A moderate isn't going to undo Trump's damage. A far lefty won't do much damage as they have their hands full undoing Trump's doings.

To be clear, a far lefty in the US is lefty-light anywhere else in the world, where free education and healthcare are par for the course.
