Anybody else glued to this thing? I love it.

Earlier we saw the ROV with it's little grabber arm on the left side and a huge wheel saw on the right. It was cutting some ropes or cables off the top of the BOP. Right now we are watching the cutter coming down. It looks like a huge yellow metal eagle beak. Fricken fascinating.

    Their current plan:

  2. That big chomper thing has a grip on the pipe.. getting ready to bear down and lop it off!

  3. They were using the ROV to cut lengths of the downed tube earlier. They almost sunk the ROV to the bottom when they cut it loose on one of them; the ROV arm was grabbing onto the piece they cut through, once they got all the way through it, the tube and the ROV started heading straight for the bottom. The arm released it's grip and the tube disappeared into the murky depths.

Right now they are using the diamond wire saw to cut through the top of the BOP uptube as far as I can tell. There's some kind of ruler deal so they can tell how far they have cut.
