  2. They could have prevented this problem in the 1st place if they had working and up to date safety equipment. I bet this spill ends up costing them more than what it would have cost them in the 1st place correctly. Also, maybe the government will require all rigs to have safety equipment that is inspected in the future so BP will end up paying for this equipment anyway. Really surprised the CEO is allowed to keep his job.

Not to mention Barry has decided to skip Arlington Cemetary on Memorial Day but thank god he can find the time to go to a paul mccartney concert.

My god this guy is friggin idiot.

Who voted for this guy anyway?

  8. My understanding is that only the people who could spell "quite" voted for him, I guess that was enough of a majority. :)

  9. Oh another spell checker I see. Always the sign of a thinker.

  10. BP has strong motivation to cover up the extent of the release. MMS taxes approximately 18% of the value per each barrel released and according to article below, they are subject to astronomical civil fines based on # of barrels spilled.

A clause buried deep in the U.S. Clean Water Act may expose BP and others to civil fines that aren't limited to any finite cap -- unlike a $75 million limit on compensation for economic damages. The Act allows the government to seek civil penalties in court for every drop of oil that spills into U.S. navigable waters, including the area of BP's leaking well.

As a result, the U.S. government could seek to fine BP or others up to $4,300 for every barrel leaked into the U.S. Gulf, according to legal experts and official documents....
