Boykins affair threatens Bush reelection

  1. Pretty weak comeback, JQ. You can't 'destroy' 1.2 billion Muslims.
I don't have easy solutions, all I can do is help dispel your misconceptions about Islam....and I'd rather die than serve another day of my life as a soldier.

***The "western mind" was not always the evolved western mind you refer to.***

Of course not! But to find Christian violence you need to open a history book. To find Islamic violence, just turn on the news.
Most religions were constucted on a relatively positive (albeit ficticious) foundation. May I point out that Jesus was a pretty cool guy. He went around healing the sick and feeding the hungry. For recreation, he liked to do a little boatless water-skiing. No harm in any of that.

The 'prophet' Mohammad was a filthy murdering bandit pedophile who makes Bin Laden look like Mother Theresa.

Are you kidding me? Or are you playing me for a fool?

  3. Where do you see Christian violence in today's world? Dubya's invading & liberating adventures cannot be attributed solely to his Christian beliefs. Milosevic's defending Serbia from Albanian squatters in Kosovo was more nationalistic than Christian.

Are you talking about abortion clinic bombers and the like? I meant Christian violence on a more significant scale...you know like the raging Islamic violence in Chechnya, Russia, Nigeria, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Israel, Algeria, Somalia, Ethiopia, Ivory Coast, Macedonia, India, Iraq, Sudan, Libya, Pakistan, Indonesia, East Timor, Dagastan....you know what? Fuck it. You want to believe that today's Islam is no more violent than today's Christianity? Go ahead and believe that. Believe in the tooth fairy and alligators in the sewers too for all I care. I'm sick of being the Cassandra that most people scoff at.

    Reardon Metal,

Your point couldn't have been more eloquently made. Great job.

  5. You want to start in Ireland? We can go on from there, if you'd like. So be careful, real careful.

  6. Just to try and point this thread back to the original issue, that of Gen. Boykins, does anyone agree with me that this issue has the potential to alienate Bush's support in the religious community? I really don't see it gaining him any support, as those who think Boykins should go are not likely Bush voters no matter what.

The Press likes to make it religious. It's a battle over a United Irish Republic. Period. It's no more about religion than if Quebec were to start fighting Ontario.

Yea AAA, Bush's logic is curious, but IMO he figure's he has the South wrapped up and the now possible swing states like Jersey and California may respond better to warm and fuzzy compassionate conservative.

  10. After today's GDP and initial claims reports, I suspect that anything other than the economy will be irrelevant, at least as long as the economy stays on track. It certainly looks good from here through the election though.
