You are right that quotes can be taken out of context, but it is also true that (1) Muslims seem to be in the middle of a disproportionate amount of violence, (2) that violence is directed at non-Muslims , (3) many Muslim clerics support and urge such violence and virtually none preach against it, and (4) it is the Muslim world that keeps characterizing this as being a religious struggle, not us. I'm not an authority on the Koran, but it seems their actions indicate that his quotes are not out of context, at least not for sizable numbers of Muslims. I don't see the moral equivalency argument at all. There is a big difference between criticizing Islam and terrorist bombings.
Did your cap lock key get stuck? Do you understand the concept of "taken out of context?" Or do you have the concept of things being lost in the translation? Have you seen only one translation of the Bible, or Koran, or Gita, or Tao, or Book of the Dead, etc. that is accepted by all followers of any religion? That people argue over what is the correct and proper understanding of a particular religion, or killing each other over how to practice that religion is indeed nuts, but religion is not to blame for the insanity of its followers.

JQP, I don't believe in God... and Muslims have been attacking non-meddling, peaceful Hindu India for over a thousand years. Why? Islam is a religion of conquest. The goal is to submit and force others to submit to the will of the Prophet Mohammad. Human life and human suffering have little meaning in Islam. Only victory, pride & conquest matter. If a Muslim woman has pre-marital sex, the only 'honorable' thing for her brother/father to do is to publicly murder her in order to restore the 'family honor'. A western mind does not think that way. To a Muslim Arab this is normal acceptable behavior. If I could sum up your thinking, looking back a couple hundred years ago in our own country: "The only good Muslim is a dead Muslim." How quickly the white men are to blame the religion of Islam for their "religion of conquest" yet forget the actions of white Americans and Spaniards in the "conversion" of Native Americans, Native Mexicans, Native South Americans, etc. We evolved out of that 16th century mentality and came to understand the proper message of religion, and those who are under the grip of improper understanding of Islam can have the same fate...but only if we help them through the transition process. I have little doubt that if nuclear weapons were as available back in the days of our genocide of the Indian tribes....they would have been used by those savage "terrorists" too.
