    I don't think "bulking up" is a good idea for you. Tall people tend to die younger fwiw. The best thing you can do to enhance your longetivity at this point is to restrict your caloric input significantly. Keep up the walking though, thats very important.

  2. No, restricting caloric intake significantly is difficult to do, and it eats into muscle tissue. There is no upside in losing naturally obtained muscle mass.

  3. Dad, grandparents etc. have been fine into later 80s/90s though I know what you mean. I just want to get back to very formidable again one last time. There is a movie role I might get as a background guy, maybe even a line this time.

    Aiming for 300 pounds, a lot in the legs though as the Johnny Bravo look is so 90s ;)

    Thing I've discovered is half filled water jugs in the pack. It is like carrying a swimming pool, weight shifting about really makes a difference.

    It's not that simple. Muscle tissue is essential for many reasons, both biological and with respect to mobility, especially as we get older. The less muscle tissue you have, the more prone you are to illness, falls, injury and so on, all else being equal. Controlling caloric intake is important, but you are mistaken if you think there is no reasonable limit.

  7. I think it just feels longer...

    I don't do any science with this stuff. Just eat more, don't care what, cause as much muscle ache as I can. Beyond a couple of Centrum a day to help heal faster..

    The cholesterol was a surprise so I guess I'd better get some niacin as I'm not giving up my big hot dogs ;)

    I do use my own sausages, the cheap ones are literally pure fatty sodium.

  8. I don't think you should try to finesse your way around junk food.

    Diet is habit. Eat differently for a few weeks, and the new diet, if reasonable, will seem "natural" to you, rather than a matter of willpower. In time you will lose your taste for junk. You won't miss it. I promise.
