get into task manager and see what's running. Go into BIOS and make sure your RAM is clocked to its rated speed. You've got to have some serious bloatware.

Such a cool story, Bro. Tell us about that time you found a nickel outside the soda fountain.

Try leaving it on overnight, it could be downloading updates in the background which can affect responsiveness.
It can also be thermal throttling because dell did a bad job out of factory. 1.56Ghz is low.
    hw monitor can show temperatures

    Latest update:

Dell said that this CPU will really slow down if it isn't taxed enough (to conserve electricity). So he said up the power setting to ultimate and there will be no issue. I will see if that fixes the problem. Maybe I'm running this Ferrari in 6th gear at 20 mph.

    Fuck you environmentalists!

no bloat ware on a precision (except for the bullshit Windows puts in like Game Pass and Freecell).

The task manager and resource monitor have shown zero spikes up to 50% let alone higher which is weird.

So this is something I learned today in Windows 10 and 11. Under the various power settings (balanced, higher, power saver) there are options you can choose. One is CPU speed. Under the non-highest settings, the CPU can drop to just 5% of its max speed. You can also set the maximum CPU you want to use. The power savings can be modified at each specific component. If you are having issues, check to see if this is where the throttling is. It could be in the power management. (like a car that has auto shutoff at red lights)

So is the computer much faster than the 8 year PC? I'm still using my 8 year old as new Pc are probably only 30% faster

By the specs it is a lot faster. (orders of magnitude). In practice, it's not materially faster other than my risk is calculating faster in excel (2 secs vs 20 secs). I bought it because i needed to separate my trading PC from my day job PC. Too much staring at the markets.

Have you been in the BIOS? This is bizarre. Win10 or 11?
