Bought a fancy new Dell and it sucks

    The hardware seems to be fine. Problem could be with windows.

    That's a great point you make. I recently had to Install MS Office, and MS kindly attaches Mcafee Antivirus to the Office Suite. You can't do anything with the Antivirus without having to pay for it, but it installs it along with MS Office.

  6. Ditto. Precision is Dell's BEST line of computers... and the 5820 is especially good!

    And yes, Dell has a driver update program for their computers.... I use it on my laptop... which is also a Precision.

  7. You earlier asked me what I'd buy today if I were in the market. You didn't respond to my reply, but I see you mentioned the 5820 for $500. That's still my rec, BTW.

    it looks like it might be the drivers. or dumb luck. or the fact that i posted this and contacted dell techincal support.

    i will test it out and see how it goes.
