Boron

  1. Sorry, the WebMD user reviews you posted were about arthritis. Regardless, do you have anything against getting a suitable amount of the substance from a well-balanced diet of fruits and vegetables? Much more than that and you could be looking at unpleasant side effects, as I understand it.

Look at how much you get naturally from food:

And your absorption will probably be better from natural sources (i.e., real food).

Nothing against it, but I prefer beer and pizza. :)

All joking aside, I believe in personal experimenting. So I am willing to give a try to lots of things, specially because different people can react differently to the same drug/supplement. I also believe in cheap supplements over expensive drugs, and that most of the time they can be just as effective as prescription drugs.

For example did you know that there is actually a dirt cheap natural statin? I hate the whole statin industry, but Red Yeast Rice naturally contains statin, the drug industry just don't want to tell you, and also made moves against it. And so on...

  3. Yeah, I know you're joking about the beer and pizza. But I'm guessing we'd both be surprised by how many people probably think they can get away with a suicide diet as long as they pop a few pills. I'm not sure it works exactly that way.

As for the red yeast rice, not so much:

The best way to avoid statins, if possible, is with proper diet and exercise.

"Dr. Mercola says red yeast rice is a statin and all statins should be avoided."

I happen to agree with him. But yes, I knew about big pharma fucking the cheap supplement industry with regulations and ban. That was my point.

So yes, one can go to the doctor and ask for steroid shots or just take a $5/month supplement and achieve similar results...

  5. I'm not a fan of Mercola. He's a big proponent of supplements and, coincidentally, sells them.

So apparently, some of the red yeast rice still contain statin, we just don't know which ones(and they are not allowed to advertise it):

"Researchers at Harvard University and the University of Mississippi recently bought 28 brands of red yeast rice from Walmart, Whole Foods, Walgreens, and GNC and measured how much monacolin K they contained.

Two brands didn’t contain any at all!

In the 26 that did contain at least some monacolin K, the amounts ranged more than 60-fold among brands! Some had barely any, some had a lot. Six of the brands, in fact, had more of the statin than what the Food and Drug Administration considers legal for a dietary supplement.

And consumers following the different dosages recommended on the labels could get 120 times more monacolin K from one product than from another. Not good.

Since none of the red yeast rice supplements were labeled with their amounts of monacolin K, consumers have no way of knowing whether they’re buying a potentially-effective product or a dud. (The researchers did not identify the brands they tested.)

I've taken zinc as a test. Supplement but I get upset stomach if taken without a meal. It seems to work well though.

Weight training is how I got the most results. Boners for days after leg days. The body has to up test production to keep up with muscle build up.

So let's fire up this old thread because I ordered Boron again for various reasons. After reading a few Reddit threads it seems there should be a one of a kind experience that lasts for 2-3 weeks, but after that it peters out and it is hard to replicate. We shall see...
