Boone Pickens:pumping His Own Energy Plan

Discussion in 'Trading' started by dsq, Jul 9, 2008.

  1. I don't care if he profits or not, I just don't want him using taxpayer funds as seed money. His personal fortune is ample to fund any venture he can dream up. As a matter of fact, if he used his own fortune excusively.....he would not have not share the profits. What a concept. But it is shaping up that Pickens does not possess that level of risk-taking; it sure feels a lot more comfortable knowing the federal government is sharing the risk.

  2. Well put. If Obama or Gore or one of the Kennedys had come up with this, the media would be gushing over it. If it came from an oil man, it must be evil.

  3. Liberals don't have a problem with trial lawyers making billions off class action suits that return little of value for their supposed clients. Democrat politicians want to raise taxes on small businessmen but they protected rich hedge fund managers from paying ordinary income rates on their incentive fees. The Hollywood crowd sees nothing wrong with making vast riches off garbage that has a toxic effect on young people.

Oilmen however are the enemy. Several prominent democrats are actually on record saying the industry should be nationalized. Hey, look how well FNM and FRE turned out.

    besides, who elected this guy?

especially after he profited so much from helping run up, first NatGas to all time highs, then,
    second, Fuel (oil, etc.), then,

well, who really cares, what else he's into,

  5. neither do Conservatives, who make even more.......

    neither do plantiffs, who benefit.....

neither does the public, with some of the best consumer protection laws in the world.....(even with all the bad examples and cases)

neither do we as pompous, over compensated traders, whining all the time about just about everything....

Nobobdy elected "this guy" because he didn't run for public office. That it the one problem with democracies. Nobody that can actually get things done wants to run for public office! Why would they? Stop quibbling over who is proposing the plan and tell what you think of it.

  7. how do you know he's not doing this for money?

Some people are addicted to collecting money, it's not the money itself that motivates them.

It is the motions that are involved in collecting the money which motivates them more. An OCD involving accumulating money.

If he were that "concerned" about the welfare of his nation. he'd do the same thing Warren Buffet, George Soros and Bill Gates have done with their wealth.

Or you could say that if Warren Buffet, George Soros, and Bill Gates were at all concerned with this country's future they would invest their fortune in its future and not just give the money away.

Do you like Picken's plan or not? Do you believe that something drastic has to be done? Why does it have to be political?
