If by tape reading you mean studying the bid/ask and prints in a quote window or time and sales, then Neil's book is not going to help you. I bought that book a while back thinking it was going to help me with my trading style but it seemed like it was meant for long term position trading. He talks about analyzing the chart and volume bars in order to determine support/resistance and accumulation/distribution.

I was hoping the the book can help me understand bid/ask

Understanding how the specialists books work……well what would you suggest? Or how do I go about it?

Yes, I checked the link, but correct me if I am wrong,….but it seems like there is a lot of noise and conflicting info in that long thread….I don’t know who to believe….now don’t get me wrong, I know there is no magic formula to make me a pro on understanding the topic, but I would think that every one would be on the same page, but they are not…. You have traders on there telling traders to get a refund if they went to bright trading, etc…so you can see my dilemma.
