cash,bonds, and stocks. why do stock market guys tell people to get rid of bonds and cash and buy stocks. well in the long run stocks for individual companeis can go to zero...the market if you are referring to market 'index' isn't the same as stocks. bonds if you hold til maturity and stock market index in the long run have same return. as for cash...people need cash to buy stocks...no cash is not trash. cash is always king unless the central policy is to make it worthless like zimbabwe did..than if the country does go zimbabwe stocks and everything is worthless too.
