You know, the message I got out of the House Republican vote was that this bill was essentially pork, not a serious attempt at recovery. Frankly, I'm surprised that Obama would support the bill. It clearly doesn't meet what he has suggested he wants to do. Infrastructure? Where is it? A drop in the bucket in this bill...less than 10%. I would think anyone who wants this country to survive economically would be against this bill. Obama has an opportunity here to "change", but frankly, it looks like he's about to muff it unless he distances himself from idiots like Nancy Pelosi and Barney Frank. OldTrader
Right on, I am very glad that someone here sees it like it really is . Obama is a career parasite, I mean, lawyer/politician.
Seems to me it's not the republicans getting played. The ones getting played are the ones who always get played.
Excellent point. That is why McCain/Palin and the Republican Party never had a chance. Even Palin was "smart" enough to realize this given her post-election comments. A Zebra can't change their "stripes" just because they finally got rid of two disastrous terms of Bush. The Republican Party is still very much in trouble. They were in power in Congress for the majority of Bush's presidency . . . and all they did was SPEND, SPEND, SPEND . . . doubling the Country's National Debt.
This is repost for you Landis. Nobody is defending Republicans like you try so hard to defend Democrats. You just can't get beyond Dem. vs Rep. can you? Second how much sense does it make to post national debt chart without comparing it to GDP? NONE. P.S. Since your "brave" fight with inflation hawks WTF happened to your brain for God's sake???
McConnell made the point that the Republican Party is not saddled with Bush anymore - but to me, that is just an attempt to distract from the fact that he and Boehner suffer from the same malady - pointing at the other guy hoping no one points at you. If they were really thinking of the GOP they would both step down and let some fresh, untainted blood step up and lead. I think they like their lofty positions too much though, so that's unlikely. They need to take one for the team and step down for the New GOP to emerge.
I noticed the chart on national debt. Always a hot topic. I really never understood how the national debt is relevant to anyone who works for a living. I take notice how the debt increased during my lifespan. I went to school, got a job bought a used car. Then I bought a house and a new car. Then as the "national debt" kept rising I bought 2 new cars and a bigger house all while I kept working. Then I got tired of "the man" and started my own business, and then I bought business property, hired people, etc. There is just no end in sight of what I can accomplish while the national debt is a national problem. Apparently the "national debt" applies to other people.
Your reading comprehension must be that of a 4th grader . . . Either that, or you really need to put that crack-pipe down. For some reason, you conveniently ignore" your post on Page 4 of this thread still playing the typical "Rep. vs Dem" card, with the reference to Clinton being the obvious tell-tale sign . . .
Here's your chart of National Debt as a percentage of GDP. And given the huge contraction in the Economy during Q4 ( the largest in 28 years ) I would suggest that this chart below is now even into Truman territory. Congratulations Cesko. You just got "owned" again.
