Very interesting article and video: http://cavett.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/02/08/was-it-only-a-game/ nitro
Can we kill this thread? It is B-O-R-I-N-G me to tears! Chess players are either psychos, pedophiles or losers. Who cares about them
huh. you are either great in sarcasm or poor in mind. i would think that good chess players who get into trading have a huge advantage. complexity, preparation, human factor - they need to have all of that.
what impressed me about fisher was this story was him calling in at a chess show on tv and proposing a crazy rook sacrifice (if i correctly) and win a game that was seen as already lost ... just think about it. you play on tv, settle it and someone calls in and it is Bobby Fisher!
As Hungarian we have a chess heritage/culture and I grew up studying and watching Fischer. He later lived in Budapest for a few years. I am sad he has passed and that his life was so very tortured, especially the later years.
True, but lets get this straight, he was not a victim. Fischer asked for what he got as far as the way people perceived him. That he got sick was unfortunate. Kidney failure is painful. nitro
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It turns out Fischer was in contact with many of the top grandmasters since he quit chess advising them, including Kasparov!!!! Read it carefully! http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail.asp?newsid=4543 nitro
