I'm happy with my plan it's better than I could have gotten before in the free market. Apx $612/month with the dental plan. $1,000 ded. with $1,500 max out of pocket. 56 yo non smoker with Humana's top tier plan. I think I'm in excellent health but I haven't had a full physical in years. I could of gotten a much lower monthly premium with a $6K ded. I've spent years out in the sun and I figured if there are any skin spots that need to be taken care of that would justify the difference. Calculated risk. If everything is OK on the full physical then on renewal I'll get a larger ded with the lower premium. I don't know what all the crying is about with the ACA. Fix a few of the problems and move on.
I expect I probably will, maybe I'll see you there. Because ET's Forest Gump says so? Bright enough to see Obamacare for the train wreck it is, since before it was passed. You OTOH...
A few of the problems? People in corporate America are shortly about to find out they are getting totally screwed. Many professional were on much better health insurance plans for the past 3 decades - and are about to find themselves forced onto higher cost plans with less benefits. I just had the misfortune of this happening one year in advance of when everyone else - when my company eliminated the 100% EPO plan and stuck us in an inferior 80% BCBS plan. The company stated very directly that this was due to ACA in a letter to all employees - BCBS discontinued the 100% plan because it was a "Cadillac" plan. Obamacare simply does not want you to have GOOD insurance - only CRAPPY health insurance is allowed. Wait until the end of this year when millions of middle-class American learn they are being screwed. It is not going to go over well - and probably will sink any 2014 national election hopes for Democrats.
I have no clue as to what state you live in but I think for most people it was a slam dunk to get both a better (coverage) and less expensive policy (non-Odumbocare) outside of this healthcare.gov site. Why no physical in years? See, my 'lousy' policy (Odumbo statement) has covered a free physical along with normal bloodwork for years (just as they allow free prostate exam, free mammogram for wife and free colonscopies for both of us). And all of that was $364/month w/ $10K deductible. Average policy on healthcare.gov was almost $1100 with $12.7K deductible. The 'crying' is about (1) premiums that are way too high (2) buying coverage that one can never use (i.e. maternity, pediatric crap, etc.) (3) losing ability to see existing doctor (4) not being able to access hospitals and facilities that one could with past policies (5) why is Odumbocare a 'one size fits all' (6) why are high risk patients (who choose to be that way) not paying higher premiums than low risk patients (as with other forms of insurance) (7) why are there new exemptions to Odumbocare every other week (8) why are so few new people signing up (9) where is all the subsidy $$$ coming from (upwards of 85% apparently will get handouts/subsidies) (10) losing the policy Odumbo said in no uncertain terms that we could keep. The man is a blatant LIAR!! And his ego must be larger than his damn ears as he refuses to see that this ACA is a complete disaster and he realizes that repealing it or revamping it BIG time would reflect poorly on him.
Can you even read? Does it look like he was referring to you in that paragraph? For a guy with a genius IQ you sure seem to struggle with very basic reading skills.
