not all old news... I don't count cards - there's one difference. the other one is Wong was not a trader. I am. anyone grabs me by the arm will get their head ripped off first. then we can discuss other matters. otherwise, I been losing miserably. I need a BJ.
Well I work as a dealer in a top casino in vegas. BJ is beatable by counting cards only. Even that u push the odds in your favor by about 1-2%. The only problem is finding a game that would allow you to give your count a true count. I was counting a deck when I was playing a few weeks ago. There were 3 other players on a single deck game. Deck came to +10 after first hand and I bet a hundred dollars when I noticed the dealer shuffling. I was like OMG what are u doing??? She said "4 players only get 1 hand dealt". Rolled my eyes and left. Simply not a good game since your count really isn't that accurate. Some said something about streaks. A streak is only a streak after the fact. You don't know your in one till its there and then its too late. What your experiencing is just basic luck of being at right place at right time. Players win 5 in a row about as often as a dealer will. I've been dealing for 8 years and only met 1 person win most of the time and he played dice of all games. You know the worst part about gambling??? Its winning. Winning makes you play more and think about gambling more. You might win today and tomorrow and hey you can win every trip for the next 5 years. Human nature will come over you and u get cocky and greedy and the one time you lose, you will watch all your winnings say goodbye. Seen it, lived it. 2 games you can win at..... Card counting and poker. Well that is mathematically speaking though cause you are playing games that are almost 50/50 so really anything can happen in the short term. Good luck to u but your system is a failure if your not counting cards and even if you were, I'll still bet against you. Your system in the long run is a guaranteed losing system
I'm beginning to think this game is too steeped in luck. seems like there's 5 kinds of luck going around in BJ... listed by order of appearance. 1. dealer's good luck. 2. dealer's bad luck. 3. my bad luck. 4. my no luck. 5. my good luck. therefore, at least in the non-luck part, there may be no way to win consistently.... and if it is ALL luck... well, I'm not too sure I want to get involved in gambling..... since I am a trader, not a gambler.
Kenny Uston was another great blackjack player -- see Uston, Million Dollar Blackjack, Carol Pub Group (1987). Before playing blackjack, Kenny was V.P. of the Pacific Stock Exchange, and he was a trader. But, in the casinos, he counted cards -- methodically, and without regards to any streak or intuition. You're wasting your time, and you're gonna get "sKaLpED!" Oh well, I give up. Good luck to you!
thanks. I'm gonna try one more system called Agressive Luck Trading. one more update to let you guys know how it worked out. laterz, sKaLpZ
Hehe, aggressive luck trading. I'll wager you're going to be using an "up as you win" money management method.
Skalpz, You've had 2-3 counters tell you that your system won't work. One dealer has told you the same. A bunch of people who know a bit about blackjack have told you you're wasting your time. And you think "hey i'm a trader, so it doesn't matter what they say". Weren't you the guy who was challenging someone to a trading contest using your demo account? I think it's back to school for you definantly, i'm not an advocate of someone needing supreme higher education to be succesful - but in gambling as in trading, you must atleast have a basic knowledge of maths, probability (etc) and be able to know when to take advice from people who know much more than you. Enrol in high school, take some classes. After that, read some books on trading and re-read this thread. Maybe then you'll realise that everyone says "IF YOU WANT TO BEAT BLACKJACK - LEARN TO COUNT". Stop saying "well i'm a trader" - You're just someone who plays on demo accounts.
It wouldn't surprise me if the casinos taught the dealers to count, and reshuffle when the count gets over a certain number. Ever heard of this?
Heard of it but never seen it done. Maybe if your in the smaller casino downtown playing the maximum you might get some attention. To be perfectly honest floorpeople and pit bosses get far too much credit then they are worth. I have worked in 8 casinos of all sizes and 95% of them are lucky to even have a job let alone count a deck of cards down.
