Black lawmakers plan walkout during contempt vote By JONATHAN ALLEN | 6/27/12 6:05 PM EDT The Congressional Black Caucus plans to walk off the House floor during tomorrowâs votes to hold Attorney General Holder in contempt of Congress, according to a letter being circulated among members of Congress. âWe adamantly oppose this partisan attack and refuse to participate in any vote that would tarnish the image of Congress or of an attorney general who has done nothing but work tirelessly to protect the rights of the American people. We must reflect upon why we are elected to this body and choose now to stand up for justice,â the CBC members wrote in a copy of the letter obtained by POLITICO. â We call upon all members of Congress to stand with us during a press conference on the Capitol Building steps during this appalling series of votes to discuss our nation's most significant priority-- creating jobs. At this critically important time in our nation, we must work as colleagues rather than political enemies." In particular, CBC members are hoping to garner support for their move from members of other minority and liberal groups, including Hispanics, Asians and the Congressional Progressive Caucus. âInstead of focusing on job creation and other critical issues before this Congress, we have been asked to engage in a political stunt on the floor of the United States House of Representatives. Our constituents elected us to do real work, not to engage in meaningless partisan activity,â they wrote. www.politico.com/blogs/on-congress/...plan-walkout-during-contempt-vote-127484.html
and the walkout is not meaningless partisan activity? taking up the Trayvon thing was producing jobs? who cares what those partisan assholes do
It must be terribly boring system to vote on this issue. Lots more fun to stage a protest and walk out. Back in the day you could walk out and protest because you couldn't vote, now you can vote on an issue and somehow it's not enough.
Holder is just part of a witch hunt, as everyone can see. Contempt of Congress, give me a fucking break. Trying to make something up to make up for Scooter and the rest of crooks who mostly got away with all their crimes. Of course the good old boys have to play it out. Issa is such an ass. I can't believe he's able to make the Boehner act like his puppet. And the NRA is paranoid enough to think this will affect gun laws. How stupid. Obama has done nothing to affect gun laws. Just trying to help Romney get more talking points after the AZ went to Hell.
Better get all your stupidity out tonight while you still can, tomorrow when the healthcare mandate is struck down you go on a 1 month hiatus from ET......
