  1. NBC Cafeteria Celebrates Black History Month With Fried Chicken Special
    by Steve Krakauer | 1:52 pm, February 4th, 2010»

    WTF
So who at NBC thought it would be a good idea for the special today to be, among other things, fried chicken, “in honor of Black History Month”?

Because, spoiler alert – it wasn’t a good idea at all. And now NBCU employee Questlove is bringing it to the attention of his 1 million plus Twitter followers.

Questlove, the band leader and drummer for The Roots (the house band on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon) tweeted this picture from the NBC Commissary at 30 Rock, with the comment: “Hmm HR?”

  3. What's racist about that?

Blacks love fried chicken, cornbread, and collard greens.

The only thing racist is that NBC didn't offer them grape soda with their meal.

    :)

  4. US Political Correctness Gets Australian KFC Ad Pulled For Racism

American political correctness has actually gotten a television ad airing on the other side of the planet pulled for perceived racism.

Yum Brands Inc, the owner of fastfood chain Kentucky Fried Chicken, recently launched a commercial series in Australia called "KFC's Cricket Survival Guide."

In it, spokesman "Mick" gives Aussies "tips on how to get through this summer of cricket."

Unfortunately for Yum and KFC, the following ad was posted at YouTube on December 12 resulting in hysterical hyperventilation from America's PC Police

    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/FftZt-Dw_hQ&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/FftZt-Dw_hQ&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

As Bloomberg reported Thursday, the ad has now been pulled:

KFC Australia issued the following statement Thursday:

Some of the ado was sparked by the following Baltimore Sun piece entitled "KFC Cricket Ad Has Racist Undertones? White man befriends black fans with chicken":

The New York Daily News reported Wednesday:

On the same day, the British Guardian offered a different, potentially more logical take:

Exactly. As one person commented at YouTube:

That Americans would misunderstand another country's culture is one thing. But for our PC Police to now be enforcing its ignorant standards from thousands of miles away should scare the heck out of folks on both sides of the aisle.

For the record, here's Mick explaining what this ad campaign was all about.

    Seems pretty racist, doesn't he?

    Lol, gotcha.

  8. Bullshit the only thing racist about it is that NBC didn't offer to subsidize the price for all the protected minority status patrons.
    outrageous!

  9. Yes. Like the christian girl from the missionary of Idaho who look for "cheap" children in Haiti for to stock her shelf for the tax exempt business she try to make. Is gods work she say. So full of the shit.

There is a reason why fried chicken franchise owners check the demographics when they decide to locate their stores. Guess what demographic they like to see.

Why would anyone be surprised if someone said many black people like to eat fried chicken. I like good fried chicken too.
