One aspect of this I haven't seen news coverage or is the situation in which people went into the marker leveraged to begin with.

For example, I have a home equity line or credit, and as long as the markets were daily bulls, I could be in it, but once it was obviously the down days were picking up frequency, we had to pull that money out. I have to wonder how many people have a stopping point due to other obligations. We left in the market accounts like IRA and 401K that we built over the years and that have time to rebound, and a bit of profit that we thought we could leave for a long time, but other than that, I switched most $ to a money market last week and then yesterday bought some stocks I researched and would be comfortable holding for a long time -- years if necessary.

So they say credit has been easy to get, so how many traders and investors were in this market using credit and now must take a break. How much is that contributing to a spiral? I had to get out of mutual funds, which means the managers must sell a portion if enough people also have to get out.

    Thoughts?
