Again rumors news: By Wednesday this week, in order for negotiations for a new bailout to begin, the eurozone wants Greece’s parliament to agree in principle on a raft of reforms: 1. Streamlining VAT 2. Broadening the tax base 3. Sustainability of pension system 4. Adopt a code of civil procedure 5. Safeguarding of legal independence for Greece ELSTAT — the statistic office 6. Full implementation of automatic spending cuts 7. Meet bank recovery and resolution directive 8. Privatize electricity transmission grid 9. Take decisive action on non-performing loans 10. Ensure independence of privatization body TAIPED 11. De-Politicize the Greek administration 12. Return of the Troika to Athens (the paper calls them the institutions)
iamnobody, those things might be what Germany wants, rightly or wrongly, feels an aweful lot like putting a dog on a leash. I don't see how the Greek people will swallow that pill. DOW SIFs down 300 on the open.
Not only Germany; Finland and Netherlands too. By Wednesday the first part should be already be completed ( VAT, pensions and fundamental reform of the judiciary). If they do that EU will start negociations again about a new loan. So even then it is not sure there will be a new loan. This are the demands from the EU backed by ALL STATES of the EU. Not Germany alone. Grexit seems to be already prepared in case there is no agreement this evening. Documents are circulating. Partial cancellation of debt is impossible. There are many people all over the world that have to swallow pills they don't want all the time. All depends of what other options there are. Greece received hundreds of billions and then started to threat not to pay back anything anymore. And now they want an "honest and respectful" solution? First call the other party criminals, Gestapo....(i am not german). EU wants garantees now that they will be paid back, which is normal. So they take over the privatisation. If you ask a loan at the bank, they will take a mortgage or ask other valuable things to cover their risc. And if you tell your bank you can go bancrupt and repay nothing at all, your bank will give you NOTHING.
30 minutes ago meeting between Merkel, Hollande, Tusk and Tsiprias. The message to Tsiprias was very clear: Greece should be a servant from the EU zone by accepting IMMEDIATELLY the required reforms, or leave the eurozone and see their banking system crash. I think that's very clear. Journalists call it mental waterboarding.
News coming in all the time: Tsiprias has to choose: trojka will reign Greece or Grexit (out of the eurzone for some years).
There is a big pressure from the European taxpayers. Europeans are already not very fond of their Europeans politicians. So they will vote with their feet next time if they will have to pay the bill again. So politicians are very careful and very cautious. They have to earn now their votes for the 2018 european elections. Tsiprias is at this moment sending away all Syrizia members that protest against the required reforms. Panagiotis Lafazanis, minister of energy apparently has to leave as first one. Tsiprias wants absolutely a deal to prevent the melt down of the banksystem in Greece.
